Received the speakers on time. I replaced my tower speakers with these because I purchased flat panel and room constraints. They sound great, am going to purchase new amp next.

Wanted to update, after year and half sub does not power on (fuse good). Had to send whole unit back, waiting to see how much it will cost to repair. So far, out 20 for shipping. I am a Boston Acoustics fan (have two other passive sets), however, the one year warranty on sub is not enough. I had it plugged into a surges trip, bummer. Debated purchase of another brand sub for replacement. Will let you know total damage when I get the bill.

I purchased this Boston Acoustics 5.1 system to go in my new projector room. I was looking for a smaller speaker package to get the most out of my projection wall without speakers sticking out. The speaker system comes with really nice speaker mounts that were really easy to install and the system doesn't stick out at all in the room but still manages to deliver excellent sound for movies and sporting events. I did purchase another boston center channel speaker to get 6.1 sound out of my system which I would recommend to others wanting the extra back speaker.

Since quality of sound is such a subjective thing, let me give some background so you know where I'm coming from. I'm not exactly a huge audiophile, but I care enough about sound quality that I tend to buy Shure earbuds for my iPod, spent quite a few hours testing audio quality for different ripping/bit rates when converting my CDs, and generally want something that sounds much better than just average. My main constraint in buying surround speakers was the spouse factor... I was not going to get away with huge speakers and a large subwoofer. Finally, I went from just a pair of Sony bookshelf speakers to this system.

Ok, with that out of the way, back to the sound: It is really awesome. These are in a big open room, with tall ceilings and where the home theater is in one corner of the room. This set handles that well, and just creates an incredible sound field that works really well. I have these paired with a Denon AVR-1712 receiver, and with a bit of tweaking have it dialed in where you really feel like you are in the middle of the action, either with a movie or something like a network broadcast football game. I get more bass and volume than I really need and the receiver is at maybe 40-50% volume.

They give you a great range of options for getting these either mounted, or simply placed on a shelf at a good angle for listening.

Long story short, these passed the spouse test with flying colors, and I couldn't be happier with the sound quality.

I have a very small apartment with a small living room. I don't need a ton of power and wanted 5.1 sound, with a small footprint and a small budget. Added bonus of two wall mounting methods (corner bracket and flat wall brackets). While the brackets are included, the hardware to mount them (screws) is not, so be prepared to go to a hardware store. Otherwise, excellent for my purposes.

I also want to add that the wall mounting brackets will only allow the speakers to face outward. I had planned on mounting the rear speakers on the wall behind my couch and then turning them 90* inwards towards the listener. This is not possible.

Brand new system that was defective, replaced by Amazon: still defective. One month response time from Boston Acoustics consumer help. Subwoofer never worked after too much time spent on checking and double checking set up and wiring. I surrender, Amazon was good enough to give me credit for the purchase. No Boston Acoustics equipment in my future.

Our movie room is what would have been an extra bedroom with a big cutout in the fourth wall that opens up into the upper level of the living room. Coupled these speakers with a Yamaha RX-V573, an existing KLH center speaker to setup a 6.1 system. The receiver's YPAO sound optimization for automatic speaker setup did a great job and the sound is very impressive. My wife is very happy about the size of speakers and my teenage daughter says the surround sound is awesome. Sub-woofer delivers plenty of base for our purposes. Definitely recommend! Don't be put off by the size of the speakers.
