I had to remove upholstery from a dining chair. The chair had little narrow crown staples that were shot in so deep the tops of the staples were ingrained in the wood. I found if I turned the tool sideways and tapped one prong under the staple with a hammer then slowly turned the tool upright (prying up the staple) I could get under it and easily lift it out. The hardest part was getting under staples that were shot in so tight. It took some work but I got better with practice and I got the job done. I cannot think of another tool design that could have enabled me to accomplish this. The prongs are so thin I though I might snap one off but I finished without a scratch on it. If you have a tough staple removing job, this is the tool.

This makes taking staples out a lot easier! I had been using a small screwdriver and it took forever. It's well made, the curved handle gives more leverage, and the point wiggle under the staples with a little force. Be careful about the sharp points on the tip! Doesn't feel good to stab yourself :-(

I have to admit I was skeptical that this tool would do the job, but it does. I know nothing about reupholstering and have dining chair seats that I would like to reupholster. Hoping to save money, I decided to do it myself. I could not get one of the zillion staples out until I received this staple lifter. I tried using a steel knife, a screw driver, any tool that I thought might be thin enough yet strong enough to get underneath the brass staple, but they were stapled almost flush into the wooden seat. Nothing worked, but this tool does! Once I get the "tongue" of the tool under the staple (which is easy to do), the angle of the piece allows me to use leverage to pry the staple up very easily. I highly recommend this staple lifter. It's well made and well designed!

This tool is very useful for lifting staples used in upholstery. The sharp but very strong points get under the staples and then pry them up and out. At times I use a pair of bent needle nose plies to pull the staples that have one leg still in the wood. Overall it is a high quality tool as you would expect from C.S. Osborne.

Good. However if staples are really tight , I still had to use the tip of the knife to pry lose a bit . The tips are not as thin as a knife but pointy a bit and then get thicker, I assume to give stability to the tool as you twist and jiggle the tool under the staple.

I just received this tool and found it to be a great tool for digging out deep staples in wood! I had 1/2" long staples driven into a pine 2x4 with a pneumatic stapler. this tool dug them out without much effort.

This tool is phenomenal. It is true if the staple is deep and tight it takes some work to get it out, but this tool has surpassed anything else I have used for the job whether deep staples or the simple staples sitting on fabric. For deep staples, I have been successful by digging one corner of this tool under the staple with some decent pressure and then wedging it upwards. I have not found a staple that it hasn't worked on. I would buy this again.
