These YJ pliers are intended for refrigerant recovery and evacuating equipment before it goes off to the bone yard, so that is generally all they are used for, but I've also found that when working on window AC's and small domestic refrigeration units that have no service ports, these pliers sometimes come in handy to access a line for refrigerant recovery and even for recharging after repairs are made. They are basically a pair of Vise Grip pliers with a fitting installed that has a sharp needle point and gasket on one end and a 1/4" flare connection for your hose on the other. The gasket that seals them against the tubing gets worn after a while, but thankfully it is replaceable. The needle fitting itself is also replaceable. These are fairly expensive pliers, but if you do a lot of equipment disposal or work on small appliances, you'll probably want to own a pair.

This is one of those extra tools I have bought --in case I need it. I don't have an AC license but my son does. I want to help him launch a business. The quality seems to be great; well made, but I just have not used it. I may need it to recycle a refrigerator or a window unit. A recycling machine and tank are on the wish list. Naturally I can't let R-12 out and city pick up crew will not accept unless empty (speaking of private person and not as a business at this time).

fast delivery but ...Pliers seal was broken on first use. all coolant was lost. I have not been able to use more. then I will try to repair and improve its seal. loss of money.
