This Chalk holder is wonderful. I love it, it is so much nicer and cheaper than the other holders I purchased at the same time. I liked it so much that I just went and purchased one of each color. Also, the chalk that comes with it is awesome(Prang). With the chalk that writes so smoothly and with the holder being so comfortable to hold, I'm in writing heaven. So much better than the $10 ones that I purchased at the same time. Gotta get more of that chalk and give the Crayola that I just bought to the kids. The twist tightening is much more effective than the push button on the others I got. I keep bumping the button and the chalk either slips in the holder or falls out but it does have a smoother grip than these and is better suited for children. Not a problem with the Commando. The grip on the Commando is a bit abrasive, but not an issue with my callused finger.
BTW, if you are going to buy Prang chalk, do it from Office Max, not here. Only $ .79 per box there.

Of the three chalk holders I purchased, this is by far the best. The others were either too thick (plastic) or the chalk would slide in when writing on the board. This one holds the chalk well - the clip prevents it from rolling on desk - nice touch. The free, clear case is wonderful - keeps my bag clean. Yes, you have to unscrew the bottom when sliding out more chalk but that takes less than 2 seconds. I do it while talking to the class. I will be purchasing a couple more; One to have "ready to go" in case I don't want to stop for a few seconds. The other will be for colored chalk. Great product.

As a teacher I use the chalkboard often, and I do like this holder, but sometimes when I least expect it the chalk either flies out, or recedes back in, causing me to either break pieces of chalk or to scratch the board.

I use this to write everyday and some what keeps chalk off my hands cause its always going to get on you no matter what. I am happy with it, I have big hands so this is definitely long enough unlike some others that other teachers use. I only gave it four stars because of the loading of the chalk holder. I wish you could slide the chalk into it from the top as well as from the bottom because sometimes the chalk does break inside and you have to unscrew it all the way to take it out. Other than that, its a great product, the carrying case is very handy.

It may not be a big deal to you, but if you are interested in quality products and looking for a chalk holder (chalk chuck), look no further. The Commando's are simply the best I have ever seen. As a coach, I love using one in my school's color.
