I really wanted to like this tower...it looks great and is very sturdy. However, it suffers from some fatal design flaws, and if it weren't such a pain to disassemble i would return it right away.

It basically has three main functions, and they are all flawed in some way. The main problem is in doing pull-ups. The bars are not long enough, and because the main vertical post is angled away from your body, your chest rubs against the back-pad. It is impossible to do a proper pull-up. To me, it is insane that anyone would put out a product with such a fundamental design error.

Secondly, for dips the grip is too wide for me. For many people it may be fine, but since it is impossible to adjust the bar spacing (and you cannot re-position your hands because of the sit-up arm pads), it is largely useless for this function as well. Strike two.

Thirdly, the makers of this machine did not see fit to provide grip pads for the metal bars (which would be super-cheap to include, and would be of enormous benefit). So not only is the machine constructed completely wrong for me (as they would be for many people), but it has the added insult of being especially uncomfortable on the hands. Strike three, yer out.

My philosophy is to buy quality, or buy nothing at all. That's all I can say. Since this is not quality, then I would recommend not buying it...and I am normally a very positive person.

$$ down the drain...this item is just a clunky metal behemoth that will be used for little more than a coat-rack. Bummer.

Pros: Easy to set up, instructions and diagrams are clear
Very, very solid metal.
Sturdy
Compact
Can be folded Up
Cheap
comfortable to use
Easy to take certain parts off in order to transport.
Has a step up "nub" for shorter people (which can also double for resting or gauging where legs are)
Simple

Cons: Can feel a TINY flex on the whole unit during some movements but doesnt affect ANYTHING

Overall this is a no brainer (especially if you have prime)
Don't waste your money on "ab rockets" and all that crap. This is totally usable for getting great abs.
Not to mention all the other exercises besides abs.

Couldnt be happier.

You see a lot of power towers out there that have the leg raise/dip station on the opposite side from the pull up station. This Apex power tower is the exact opposite of that. Why that matters as far as being mechanically sound, is because of the simple fact that the weight load(your body weight), is being put onto the same side of the machine. The problem that you run into with the opposite from this kind(the kind that I made mention to before NOT this model), is the anchor points(the bolted points of the machine), end up getting your full weight one direction and then the other! The huge problem that you run into here, is that more wear onto the bolt holes happens significantly faster! So this variety machine is the better buy of the two varieties. Especially when it comes to a piece of equipment you are not looking to have make a wrenching "SQUEAK!" every time that you get into position on it after a year. I own one machine of both design varieties. The opposite one from this one, screams like a cat in heat and about to throw down every time that I go to do pull ups, dips, reverse vertical hanging crunches, or leg lifts. This machine, while I've only owned it for a year and kept it indoors, silent as far as any mechanical straining sounds. Like they had a mechanical engineer with some sense draw up the plans for its creation. On top of all that, the dip station folds out of the way and a pin locks it into place! So that way, if your doing pull ups, you need not spend a moment worrying as to whether the dip station will injure you when you dismount from the pull up bar. That is of course, unless you are forgetful and leave it down, forgetting to have it up and out of harms way!Read more ›

I like this machine. I bought it to have a captain's chair for lower abs. It fits well into a corner. It is big but relative to similar captain's chairs takes up a lot less space. It will last forever, the thing is really solid.

I actually bought this product by accident, but by the time I realized it wasn't the tower I was looking for it was too much of a hassle to return it.
The product is good though, I've placed over 300 lbs on all of its appendages and it has held up quite nicely. the base wobbles if you really want it too but as long as your workouts aren't super dynamic it is a sturdy piece of equipment.

If you are a body builder or over 190lbs I dont think this would be the product for you.The way it look is cool but you cant do weighted chins or dips on this thing.Now if you are a little lady or some smaller kid just getting started this may be good for you.

This unit is very functional and fits in the corner of any room. I like it's design which is good since I keep it in my house. It was very easy to assemble. The only drawback for me is that the handles for the dip station are uncomfortable. I just put some bike grips on them and I'm good to go.
