I bought the Wilton version of these to decorate my truffles (Hello Kitty). They were dreadful. I then found out that THESE were the ones that I needed, and that is absolutely correct. These are fantastic! They write on chocolate with no effort at all. A nice clean line, with little pressure required at all. And once it is on, it doesn't rub off with the tip of the pen like the Wilton ones did.

If you are looking for edible food pens, this is the product for you!

(and they shipped very quickly).

Although I was hesitant to get this pen based on some reviews I read, I ended up getting them because I felt that there really wasn't a better option. It turned out it worked just fine! My advice for those who are making Lego Pops is to sacrifice one or two pops until the pen gets used to the oily candy surface. My pen rejected the surfacea at first but I kept trying and it ended up drawing just fine. I posted a picture of my Lego Pops. Hope this review will be useful in making a decision. FYI, to my disappointment, most 7 year olds did not like the taste of the Marshmallow Lego Pops (I used the yellow Wilton candy melts). But I still had fun making them and the kids loved the way they looked!

If you thin you candy melts with shortening or oil these will not work well. I think people giving this product used undoctored candy melts while the people having difficulty probably added something to their melts during the dipping product. I did and the writing looks terrible and it was super difficult to write anything more than an inch or two long. I tested the pen on an unmelted candy melt and it wrote quite a bit better.

I bought these after hearing they were the best and reading all the good reviews. Previously, I had tried the Wilton markers which were horrible. I was so excited to try these out, but after 4 or 5 cake pops they stopped working. When I cleaned them on a paper towel as recommended on the packaging the markers worked fine, but as soon as I tried to write on the candy nothing would happen. I don't understand why they didn't work for me but seem to work great for others.

Like many other reviews I read, I was looking for something to draw eyes and whiskers onto the Hello Kitty cake pops I was making for a birthday. I used the Wilton markers the first time I made them.... 24 cake pops took FOREVER. I needed a better option since someone ordered 50 HK cake pops. I read reviews and although some hated this product I figured I had nothing to lose. I ordered it and I was happy with the results. I did not have to constantly go over the eyes or whiskers to make it darker (had to do that with the wilton brand). I used one pen and it seemed like it didn't want to work after the first few cake pops. No worries, just popped the second one open and from then on it was smooth sailing. I did have to use a napkin to blot it a couple of times in between cake pops. I LOVE these pens and I'm glad I ordered it! I would definitely buy these again!!

Giving 5 stars for the moment. I used these to draw faces on white chocolate dipped snowman cookies. I made 25 of them and the one pen I used worked like a champ. Wrote immediately. Did not need to be cleaned with a paper towel. Ink did not need to be coaxed out if the pen. Nice, dark black color. I used CandiQuik white melting chocolate.

They are the only thing to use if you are making cake pops with Merckens melting wafers. I tried others and these write beautifully. I made 30 cake pops for my daughters baby shower. I did 2 dry runs before the shower to be sure they can out great. I used Wiltons candy melts and decorating pens on the first try and it was a disaster. The second try I used the Merckens chocolate and the AmeriColor black markers after reading the reviews on Cake Pop websites. Many people recommended AmeriColor for writing & drawing faces on chocolate melts. They came out great. I brought my Cake Pops to work to get feed back and everyone gave me an A+. Don't waste your time with anything else. Everyone at the shower thought I bought them! I've been very happy with the results with other cake pop projects.
