My 18 month old Greater Swiss Mountain dog has had issues with loose stools since I got him at 9 weeks old. After many expensive vet visits, the vet had no answers other than a possible food allergy. He was having cow-pie like stools several times a day and bad gas. He also licked his feet and chewed himself and scratched a lot - also indicative of a possible food allergy. The vet said to try hypo-allergenic food.
I tried about every premium dog food known to man, including the weird ones like salmon and potato and venison and rice. No improvement. After reading the reviews on here, I decided to try the Prozyme. What the heck? I'd already spent thousands on vet visits and dog foods! What's 30 more bucks?
His stools firmed up within the first week of using it! It has also helped with his gas issues (he used to stink us out of the house) and he is not licking his feet anymore and the scratching has been reduced quite a bit. The feet licking/scratching issue took about a month to clear up, but his poop became normal within a week. He is about 120 lbs and I give him 2 teaspoons twice daily. The big bottle (454 grams) lasts me about 2 months.
I love this product and will continue to keep him on it. Thanks Prozyme!!

This is my third bottle. I put kibble in a ziplock bag and add one of there scoops full per 1/2 cup. I shake it well and feed my Shihtzus . It helps not only with digestive enzymes but stops copraphagia .

My mom started sprinkling a teaspoon of this stuff onto every meal - tastes pretty good - I only eat my food AFTER she puts it on to remind her that I need it. I mostly like that my tummy doesn't hurt anymore and my pancreatitis is so much better, probably because it made me stop farting . For some reason, mom and dad ran away from me when I did that (I'm 12 for goodness sake, I thought that's what I was supposed to do). The other thing is that I don't eat my poop anymore - it doesn't taste yummy now. I don't feel the urge to lick the top of my paws, either.

Besides all that making mom super happy, she jumps up and down when she orders it from Amazon because it costs half of what she used to pay at that really big pet store AND the bottle is twice as big. Humans. Go figure.

Love and Licks,
Pokey

I have food allergies myself & if you are gluten intolerant, more than likely you are lactose intolerant, so going with the lactose free formula of Prozyme was a no brainer. Why, because a raw diet as close to what dogs eat in the wild is the number one way to go as far as a diet for dogs, then wet food as close to their natural diet, then a dry dog food as close to their natural diet, and their natural diet in the wild is grain free. My dog kept having diarrhea & was throwing up every now & then. I put her on a diarrhea diet of chicken & rice but she was not digesting properly. Her poop was soft, orange & you could see the rice was undigested. And guess what the number one dog food allergy is to - chicken. Dogs are also very often allergic to milk. My dog was ravenous, and had all the signs of pancreatic insufficiency. I switched her to a no grain dry dog food & split her intake into 4 equal meals throughout the day. But I started each meal with a serving of low fat yogurt, Prozyme plus & a bit of water and mixed it together. Then fed her the dry food after in a 9" cake pan & spread it out to slow her down, and she has been a new dog ever since. She is now shedding much less, her coat is gorgeous, she has tons of energy, and her poops are perfect. You can feed your dog the perfect food but if she isn't absorbing the nutrients, the perfect food does no good. Digestive enzymes help to break up the food which then makes it easier for the body to absorb the nutrients from the food.

One of my dogs has a fussy stomach. A change in food away from chicken/rice-based helped a bit. Adding this stuff and a "probiotic" spray (not the subject of this review) has finished the job, apparently. He's been eating well (enthusiastically, actually) and keeping it down. No more middle-of-the-night stomach cramps/pain. So from that point of view, I'd say that this stuff does something. Exactly what, I can't say. Since he's not prone to placebo effect or wishful thinking, the effects appear to be real and indisputable.

By the way, nothing in here is recognized by AAFCO as an essential nutrient.

Now for the reason for the 3 stars: According to the manufacturer's support line, this product has a three-year shelf life. After doing quite a bit of shopping around for it, it appears that ALL of the product available at retail AS OF JULY 2013 was produced in early May 2012. That means that about 40% of the shelf live is already gone. You're buying a NEW bottle and it's 40% of the way to Throw-Out. And you're paying full price. That Is Not Right. And it's not just Amazon, it's every outlet that would check their date code for me. The date code format, by the way, is YYDDD-P HH:MM Two digit year and three digit day-of-year. The code on all these products is 12128. May 7, 2012. This is available in 100g and 300g sizes. Unless you expect to use a whole lot of it (100g "treats 160 cups of food") you should probably avoid the 300g size since chances are that it will expire before you use all of it.

Now this situation could change at any time as new product makes its way into the channel.
