The only thing keeping this from getting 5 stars is the size. I know it has the dimensions on the package, which is great! However, I thought this would be more useful than it has been. It's not quite big enough to hold a sheet of paper tri-folded - you have to fold both length and width to get them in there. If you're trying to store note cars, however, these will probably be perfect. I added some of these to my planner to hold business cards, and it's been great! The adhesive is pretty cool, too. If you need to reposition it, you can probably do it quite a few times before it will stop sticking. I used one pocket on 4 different things before deciding to stick it in my day planner and it's not peeling off or anything! The tab on the side makes it easy to categorize things, too. I marked them for professional and personal business cards so they were easier to keep seperate. These little things are pretty nifty!

I love organization products. In particular, I adore organizing and holding projects in these clear folder things. So I was excited to order the product above. However, as other reviewers have mentioned, there are some flaws in the idea.

PROS
Sturdy, portable design. Things don't fall out of it easily. You can write on the tab (permanent, not erasable) so you can label a specific use for it. It holds 3x5 cards and 4x6 cards nicely (see my uploaded photos). The sticky-note type backing is a pretty cool idea. Not only can you stick it into your notebooks, but it can be used elsewhere because it's quite sticky. (About as sticky as Post-it Super Sticky Notes.) For example, I put my to-do list in it and stick it to the side of my inbox where I can always see it.

CONS
It's not wide enough for a folded piece of 8.5" x 11" notebook paper. (You'd have to fold it in quarters to get it to fit.) The flap is hard to close back into the little tabs. After fumbling with it once, I just gave up and don't close them at all any more. The sticky backing, while very useful in some cases, can be a pain if you just want to leave the folder on your desk, in a stack, or inside another file.

Overall, I find it useful, but prefer to use the full-size folders without sticky backing.

I love these things. I hadn't used them before, and I'm not using them in a notebook at the moment, but they work quite well for me. I collect recipes. Usually on small pieces of paper that I promptly lose (or my daughter takes to draw on). The PocketTabs are my new go-to thing to help keep my recipes organized. I have put them inside my spice cupboard, on the inside of the door. I can hold a fair amount of recipes in them, and have repositioned them a few times as I added more. They work really well, and continue to stick even after moving them a few times. I'm sure that after time, they may begin to lose their sticky, but so far they're doing quite nicely. While I probably wouldn't have purchased these originally, they have worked so nicely that I'm thinking about buying some different sizes to use for different things, as well as for my son for school.

I do recommend these - they are limited in use only by your imagination!

I got the 5 x 8 Avery Pocket Tabs to mark places in a book. I thought these would be particularly useful because they're a good size for holding 3 x 5 cards securely in the book near the topics that I've made notes for.

In theory, they were perfect, in practice... There were some problems.

First thing I noticed was about the tab itself. The whole item is smooth plastic which doesn't accept ink, even from a permanent marker. The tab has a writable surface applied to it, but only on one side. This means, if you want to use the PocketTabs in a book, you can only place them on a right hand page.

The Pocket part is completely clear, but whatever you want to put inside it probably won't be. The size of the PocketTab means that if you want to mark a particular place in a book that has important information on the right hand page, and you want to put something in the pocket part, there's a good chance you will be covering up what it is you want to mark.

The pocket part has a flap that closes and locks with two tabs that insert into slots. These tabs are hard to lock if you place the PocketTab sideways, with the tab sticking out the top of the book. If you place it with the tab sticking out the side, it's a little easier to secure the flap.

So now, you can only place the PocketTab on the right hand page with the tab sticking out of the side.

The adhesive holds firmly and came up clean after a short amount of time stuck on a page. It didn't rip or discolor the page, but the page did tend to curl when the PocketTab was removed. (I was able to fix it by smoothing out the curled corner and closing the book.

Avery's new PocketTabs are a most ingenious invention with many uses depending on your work, hobbies, and habits. As an artist, they will make a wonderful holder for prints and entry fee when submitting work to exhibits, with its easy to open and close enclosure tabs (instead of using paper clips which sometimes slip), non-permanent adhesive backing that I can adhere to promo material, and of course, the see-through pocket itself. They will also be great for my 2010 tax book, as a monthly place to keep receipts, with its firm tab good for writing the month, for ease in turning to it. I've also placed a 5.125x8 on a drawer by the computer for all those notes that one makes while browsing the net. Anything that helps organize and tidy the workspace gets a thumbs up from me!

Avery has been the major industry leader in labels since it pioneered the product starting in 1935, when R. Stanton Avery made the first self-adhesive label in a Los Angeles loft. Since then Avery has invented all kinds of goodies that make your life easier (remember when we had to lick stamps?).
