Not for a beginner, really. Certainly not for a kid. You have a zillion parts to paint and have to mix paints to get the right colors. My kid was discouraged at this.

Solution: Please don't say this is great for beginners and/or kids.

I bought this for my fourteen year old arts and craft loving son. He would not put it down until it was complete. A great starter pack for an aspiring artist. We both wish the pots of paint were a little larger though, as with all the mixing to make colours, they seemed to be finishing rather speedily. In the end we had to dilute to make them last.

They don't include the paper that shows all the numbers that way when you paint over the pieces you can still see what the other spots need! So annoying now I have to mix each one that I cover so I dont forget what number was to the left in the tiny spot. You need the separate paper to see the numbers you cover to the side which should always be included. I also cant find it online. Other than that it is perfect and way better then most always recommend this brand.

This is gorgeous, I have not painted it yet but I did complete a Dimensions paint by the number of butterfly and bamboo and it is frame able. Just been so busy not time to paint this one.

BTW.... this was soooooooooooo relaxing.... When I painted the other one I was up late because I just did not want to stop. If I could have taken my vitals I bet they were low and slow.... calm.....

My 6 year old niece seemed to grasp the concept of the mixing, finding numbers and applying the right color just fine. She lacked the finger dexterity to make a masterpiece but seemed to enjoy doing the thing.

That said it's far too complicated to do perfectly for a child, and the mixing of the paints is amateur hour at best.
