For most dogs, you will need to train your dog to stay in the sling. Those who complain that the dogs might jump out...of course they will at first, until they feel SAFE in the sling!

Now my girl, for whatever reason, the MOMENT I put it on she got excited. I picked her up, put her in it and she settled RIGHT into it and was happy as a clam! She weighs about 5.5 pounds and is a chihuahua/chinese crested/naked mole rat/muppet mix. (In other words...we have no idea. For all we know, she may be a cute exotic rat.) Now when she sees it, she gets SO excited. I put it on, bend over, she turns around and backs her little hiney right into it and makes herself comfortable. Keeps her from being underfoot in the morning. Actually the main reason I got it was for dog parks (the big dogs like to play longer than she does, and it keeps her close so we don't have to watch her AND them). One morning I nearly stepped on her for the 456,039,291.5th time and I grabbed the sling. That was all she wrote! Now every morning I get dressed, pop on the sling, do my makeup, hair, make my coffee (she doesn't shed, being part muppet), I could probably even cook breakfast but some might frown on that.

Most dogs will need to get used to it.

I really should post a video review, it is very cute. She is very cute. She even won me $2000 on America's Funniest Videos. Of course most of that will be used for more dog stuff.

Oh my gosh! The first time I put my 5 lb toy poodle in this she was a little skeptical. I walked around the house for a minute and then took her out. A little later I brought it out again and she came running over & wanted in it. A few days later when I brought it out again she started jumping up and down in excitement because she wanted in. When I take her out she's usually on a leash. I use this sling if I go to a gardening center or hardware store. They probably wouldn't let you come in with a dog on a leash, but in this little pouch they didn't say a word. We both love it!

By the way, the sling was too long for me (I'm 5'3") and my dog was bouncing off my thigh when I walked, so I took it into the cleaners/tailor to have it shortened a few inches.

My doggy is small he is a 5lbs chihuahua and this sling works perfectly! I assume because my puppy is small. This is not a rugged everyday sling but rather something you use ocassionally like if you want something cute to show him/ her off. Its super cute and soft. I really like it and it is inexpensive. It is quite long though for those who are over 5'5" perhaps it's ok but I am 5'5" and it doesn't sit on my hip so I have to I tie it up a little. Hope this is helpful.

Haven't really USED this yet but decided to keep it anyway. It really is made for a very,very small dog. My Yorkie is 6 lbs. and JUST fits and stays in it. Walked to mailbox and back and he was OK with it. Wouldn't trust it with anything bigger. It is nice material and seems to be well made and it is comfortable. No security for you dog....so if you have anything over 5/6 lbs I wouldn't recommend it.

This sling feels so natural and comfortable for me to wear. It's like carrying a baby and it works great for my new 4 lb. Chihuahua. My puppy has no desire to jump out of it. She just sits up and looks around until a nap kicks in and she falls asleep. In fact, when she is in this, it is just about the only time this little puppy stays still.
My 10 lb. Chihuahua has enjoyed this sling for months, but not until a few days ago did I realize what a great item this is, for our new needs. My Chi broke her leg and is now sporting a cast. Unfortunately, she will be wearing cast(s) for the next 12 weeks: She's managing around the house nicely on 3 legs and a cast (we refer to it as her kickstand), but when she sees me bring out this sling, she gets so happy (and I believe relieved). She loves to lie on her back in the sling. Her body and her rather large cast are nicely supported.

I bought this for a mini. yorkie. she loves to be cuddled and carried everywhere. The first time i put her in the sling i was expecting her to resist, but she laid in it and fell asleep! Super nice material for a dog access. If you take your small dog with you as much as i do, its an arm savor!
