This karaoke machine is great. It hooked up to my receiver very easily and to my tv as well. You have proffessional karaoke in your home at a very reasonable price and very easy to use. The best part of it all it came with 2 microphones. I did not know this when I bought it(did not see it in the ad), but it did come with 2 mics. I would definitely recommend this product!

The description of the player was silent as to whether or not the player comes with any microphones, and as a result I separately purchased two microphones. To my surprise, when I received the player, right on the box I saw a picture of two microphones which apparently came with the player and were included in the price of the player. I paid overnight shipping the for the extra mics I bought and am hoping to recover the shipping charges from Amazon since had I known the mics were included with the player I would not have ordered the separate ones.

Also, for those who are buying this player, throw out the audio/video cable that comes with it and use a better quality one ([...] has plenty of cables that cost nothing)

Lastly, be sure to adjust the audio volume on the remote to get the mic and music volume to match. The music sound as defaulted on the player is way too loud and therefore you can't hear your voice through the mic.

Otherwise, I think it's a decent player.

If your TV doesn't have a way to bypass the digital upconversion for the audio you will get very frustrated by about a 1-2 second lag in the mic audio. Just bypass the TV for audio and hook the Mic/Music out directly to an analog port on your receiver and you will avoid that. Works great once it is set up properly. I would have given 5 stars but the documentation mentions nothing about this very important setup situation.

You can not use the HDMI output when actually using Karaoke as the vocals will not come through.. I found this a little misleading.. If there is an HDMI output, and the device is for karaoke, then all audio signals should come through.

I was a bit concerned before ordering after some of the other reviews. Obviously some did not read the directions about controlling the music volume level from the remote. After receiving the unit I was up and running in 20 minutes and had learned most of its functions. I was surprised the two microphones were of decent quality with 15 ft cords. The only things I'm upgrading is the stereo A/V cable is a bit cheap and I want at least one 25ft microphone cord. I decided to go this route instead of a computer system because this is turnkey with microphones. I think two microphones and cords would cost at least 45 dollars alone. The unit does handle SD media but I have not tried that yet. All in all I was quite happy with the purchase.

As it turns out, there are not too many DVD karaoke players that are both good DVD and good karaoke machines. I used to own a RjTech unit, which happened to be terribly unreliable, and chose this one as a replacement.

On a positive side, this unit has a reasonably good karaoke function for 2 singers.

But here is the list of negatives:

1. Out of the box the unit comes preset for either RCA analog video, or digital S-video. So, if you, like most, want to use component or HDMI, you have to plug it via RCA or S-video, and change the setting using on-screen menu. This is not in the manual, by the way, but my old RjTech was the same way, so I figured it out. However, despite enabling the HDMI output in the menu I still could not get it to work. Also, if you want to use component - you have to select either YMA, Y/Pb/Pr or RGB option - so you connect via RCA, pick one, see if it works, if it does not - switch back to RCA, choose the next one, etc. Good thing you have nothing else to do, right?

2. It comes pre-set for 480 resolution. So, if you want to change - there are multiple options of resolutions and frequencies. If you pick a wrong one - you are out of luck - you get a blinking screen and you won't be able to change it back, because you no longer able to see the on-screen menu. The way out for some reason is the PAL/NTSC switch on a remote - found it by pressing all the buttons, again, nothing in the manual.

3. The audio output is via RCA analog, digital optical or coax, or 5.1 channel. Tried to use optical and coax - still was not getting full digital output, until changed some settings in audio menu. The settings are labeled with the bunch of letters the meaning of which is not known to me, or explained in the manual.Read more ›

I bought this for my girlfriend as a birthday present. I have been apologizing for it since. If you are looking for a solid, fully featured karaoke machine, look elsewhere. The lack of details on the product description should have scared me away but it didn't.

First, yes this will play your discs. However, when it comes to the USB / Memory card features (main selling point for myself) this machine is SERIOUSLY lacking even basic features. As a heads up, this only plays MP3's and AVI files from a USB or memory card. The AVI files must be Divx encoded, and must remain under a max resolution which I have yet to pinpoint. All I know is that it is below 1080 (1920×1080). The file explorer has a very basic search function which lets you find a file based on the order they appear. This would be fine, but it doesn't display your files in any particular order (ascending, etc...) which makes the search function useless. My desk phone has better functionality than this file explorer. It does come with 2 corded mics, They feel professional, but sound cheep.

By the way, the instruction manual tells you none of this. Good luck if you buy this.
