I use this during hairbrushing with my two girls. Smoothes out their hairstyles and is an extra layer of protection against lice. Brushes out well from day to day if you aren't washing hair every night, another plus. Has more of a "citronella-y" scent than the leave in conditioning spray, but you get used to it after a while. (Definitely not as strong as some of the other sprays out there.) We like it....

We spend a lot of time in the woods with various Girl Scout activities. We found most regular hair sprays actually attract bugs. Not only does this spray not attract the bugs my daughter says she notices a huge reduction in the number of bugs that buzz around her head when she wears this hair spray.

So far so good with repelling lice. The smell is something to get used to, my daughter pinches her nose while I spray. The only negative is that its tacky and flakes badly leaving a white dusting. Though I'll take tacky and flaky over lice any day!!

Yes, this is hairspray. Leave-in conditioner would be better for you if you need your kid to have soft, shiny hair, but I don't think it's as effective as the gel and Spray & Shield together. We've had a lot of lice in our community, and my kids have weathered many outbreaks since they've started using the gel and Spray & Shield. We're religious about using both every morning including non-school days (something I was happy about as I watched my kid's soccer teammate keep stealing his hat and putting it on this past weekend). My middle daughter has long, thick, curly hair (think Hermione Granger), but she doesn't have a problem brushing the spray out on her own every night. I'll take the crispy hair look over lice any day!

I liked the idea of using these products that have organic herbs and natural plants in them without any harsh ingredients so I bought the hairspray, conditioning spray, and gel for family use as a trial.
I think it great to use the products on days of hiking, trail riding, or fishing as the combining of products is an alternative to buy sprays. The downside to using them for everyday use is that the hairspray bottle and the conditioning spray bottle look exactly the same and a few times I've accidentally grabbed the wrong bottle regretfully. If you put the hairspray in hair when wet, might as well jump right back in shower as it is super sticky and there is no combing it out. If you accidentally spray the conditioning spray on finished hair, might as well get the dryer out as its a bit oily. Sometimes the spray will clog up and squirt a stream into one area rather than a spray, and it will be super sticky in that area. It doesn't help putting the top under warm running water as you still need to pump out the stream so might as well pump it into sink until it sprays like a hair spray again. It works like a hair spray but more like a combination of gel/conditioner as a hairspray, if that makes sense. It is pliable yet you don't want to run your fingers through hair or brush after using it because of the stickiness. I think it is best for pulled back hair styles to spray hair in place rather than for volume.
Despite that, I like it and will continue using it when working out, outdoor adventures, or when pulling hair back.
