Despite the low price on these chairs, which should have raised a big red flag, I ordered 4 because of the two 5 star reviews. Now I wonder if the reviewers were actual buyers or someone who worked for the seller. Two of the 4 chairs arrived with broken arms. They were held together with a staple and one peg and some obviously bad glue. There were also several nicks in the finish. I immediately sent a message and photos to Furniture Creations. The woman who responded was very nice and apologetic, and offered to send replacement arms and a $50 credit to cover refinishing. (I eventually received the replacement arms but not the $50 credit.) Then I attempted to assemble the chairs, and found it impossible to press the casters into the base. A friend helped me, and finally got two chairs assembled. They were not level, and there was no way to adjust them. After sitting in one chair for a short while, the arms pulled apart (same as the original damaged ones), and the back separated from the seat, collapsing the whole chair.
Throughout all of this, I exchanged numerous emails (including more photos) with the seller, and was told to wait while she contacted the manufacturer. After about a week, having heard nothing further, I wrote again. I was told that the woman who had been helping me had been transferred to another department, so this new person would review the case. Finally, nearly a month after I got the chairs, she informed me that I could ship the chairs back for a refund, but I would have to pay the shipping costs AND I only had 3 days to do it since Furniture Creations has a 30-day return policy! Never mind that I had been waiting for them to respond, and that the chairs were defective.Read more ›
