I bought an elastic thread by another brand - at my local Jo-anns. It was terrible, not stretchy, and would separate very easily, super frustrating I had to rip everything back out. I have always preferred Gutermann threads, and this elastic thread is no exception. It is a far higher quality, with FAR less breakage - and most important of all, it's not frustrating like other brands. I will only ever buy this brand of elastic thread.

I admit, I used the thread in a non-standard way. I have fixed two pairs of socks and legwarmers that didn't have enough stretch in them. As both were already ready, and knitting them again was not an option, I found a quick fix with this yarn. I crocheted a line or two in the direction I needed the stretch with a small hook (3mm), and the result is what I was hoping for - good stretch where I need it. Better than if I'd have used a needle to add the thread post-knitting.

Ever have the MOST comfortable jeans you have ever owned pop a hole the very day you decide to wear them to a beach bbq! GUTEMANN thread has never let me down in strength, color saturation, and durability. The stretch is not too much, but enough to match the stretch in your jeans or shirt! Great buy to avoid the dry cleaners charging 15 dollars to replace a button!!

Can any of you tell me how thick this elastic thread is? Or how strong? I just received a different one I had ordered and it's incredibly thin. I use it for making hairbows and with the one i bought, which I'll admit, was a cheapo spool, $1.79, but I can't even tie a knot without the tread snapping/breaking. I tried forever and it broke every single time. Or can anyone recommend a good, thick, strong one?! Thanks!
