    I was looking for a warm, tough vest, and found this vest on Amazon for much less than I would pay for it elsewhere, and in great colors! I ordered the purple, and I love the color which is a very nice, bright purple. The vest is tough, like all Carhart products and has plenty of pockets. It is also warm, and while it's true the sherpa material isn't terribly soft, it is still warm.

    I read the reviews here, and decided to size down on this, so I ordered a large rather than an extra large. I usually wear a size 16, but also wanted to be able to put layers under this, so I was a bit apprehensive about sizing down. I have a Carhart jacket in size large that is a bit tight in the bust, so I wasn't sure about this.

    The size large fits perfect in the waist/hips (and I'm not hip heavy, but I do have a bigger waist), but it zips snuggly in the chest (in fact, it fits just like my Carhart jacket). So I decided to try the xl just in case. Way too big! That one had the wierd flaring effect in the hips/waist other people noted (simply because it was too big), though it did fit nicely in the bust. But it wouldn't do to keep the larger one, because the wind would have come right up through the bottom--seriously, I it was more than one hand-span of space there!

    I tried the large on again over a fairly heavy polar fleece jacket and I can zip up the vest just fine in the waist/hip, and CAN zip it in the bust, but it's a bit tight (imagine a really really supportive sports bra effect!) I decided that the large, even if it was tight in the bust if I had on a heavy layer underneath, was still a much better fit for me.

    So if you like Carhart products, and are looking for a tough, warm vest that also comes in nice colors, get this. The price is great! Just be aware that you might need to size down.

    I bought this vest to wear in the barn as a vet student because we are always using our hands and it frees up my arms. I really love how it looks and the length is great to cover up the top of your hips and keep them warm as well. The color looks very nice and it is good quality. I think it is a great way to add a little extra warmth and the small is large enough to go over a sweatshirt (I am 5'10", 150 lbs). I typically wear a size M and I went down a size after reading other reviews and it fits great!

    I spend a lot of time living and working out of doors and was looking for something exactly like this. Unfortunately, it didn't work. I am a petite woman, 5'1, 100 lb and was hopeful about the XS size. This vest is not exactly cut as shown. The waist flares out toward the hips significantly, which I guess would be of great benefit for someone who is short AND wide. For me, the wide bottom not only looked silly but got in the way of my arms swinging freely. NOT suitable for either work or play. I'm sure it works well for taller, broader women...the fabric looks very durable. By the way, this vest is lined with thin Sherpa fleece, not quilted. FYI

    This is by far the best vest I have ever gotten. It is so warm & long enough to cover my hips so if I'm bending over it doesn't expose my back any. I'm 5'1, 150 pounds & got a size medium, it fits perfect. Whether working with our sheep or moving wood it is so much better than having a jacket getting in the way. Will definitely be buying more.

    Doesn't fit as well as I would like and the zipper is sticky but when I wear it with about six other layers that doesn't make much difference. It is a very warm and durable vest. Be careful about washing it as the color faded after the first wash. Overall, it is a good product.

    This vest was perfect...in the picture. It's nothing like the one shown in the picture. It's perfect everywhere EXCEPT the bottom - it flares out so much that it looks dorky and not flattering nor fitting. I am 5'8 and typically buy medium size shirt for comfortable fit (I don't like tight fitting shirts). Jeans I wear size 7 long of Cruel Girl, 31"x 34" for Levis. Small size fit me very tightly around my chest with a shirt and a sweatshirt underneath the vest. I felt restricted and probably a bit uncomfortable to perform active duties. It was rather short, just hovering over my pants' belt. Bottom flares out by 2 inches on each side. So goofy looking. Not at all like the picture. Medium fit me loosely around chest and waist, longer but not too long (just the right length), i felt comfortable moving my arms around and perfect for outdoor chores. BUT the bottom flared out even more, 3 inches on either side, I would say, and even more goofy. Made my hip look unnecessarily larger than actual, and somehow made me look shorter, too. Again, the picture is completely misleading how it fits. Other than that, the material, design, color was everything I was looking for. I was so disappointed because this would have been perfect with such good price - less than $40. I am guessing the design flaw is making this item to be listed almost 1/2 the retail price of similar product. It didn't even worth spending my $40 on this, so I returned it. I ended up finding a men's version at a store, which fit me almost exactly the same as these ones but without any flaring out.
