I hate it when the item description doesn't mention what the item is made of. The use of the term "chrome" here is misleading; that would imply that the base is made of metal. And the picture makes it look like the bowl is made from glass. However, the entire unit is made of plastic. And the bowl feels very cheap.

This kitchen scale is working great. The bowl is bigger than I expected, so it is very versatile. Easy to use, just push the button and off you go. The scale is set to include the provided bowl before it weighs. We measure out chicken for our Shih Tzu, so we have weighed her plate beforehand so we can put her food directly on her plate then sit the plate on the bowl to weight it. It works fine without having to mess up the bowl each time. If the plate is five ounches and we add two ounces of food, it comes to seven ounces and we know we have the right amount.

I received this scale yesterday and was able to take it out of the box, wash the bowl and start using it right away. The scale came with easy to follow instructions and batteries. The bowl is deep enough and wide enough to weigh all of the foods I need to weigh and it's very fast. I use it to weigh raw chicken or fish and I can put my whole chicken breast or fish fillet in the bowl and weigh it. Othere scales without a bowl you have to put your food in a container and place on the scale and then do math. This scale already computes the weight of the bowl so you can spend your time worrying about cooking the food and not just weighing it. The digital display has a blue backlight that is bright and the numbers are dark and large enough to see clearly without squinting and having to bend over to see the display. The bowl is plastic and very light weight, the scale is also very light weight. Initially you would feel this is too cheaply made to do the job, but I was pleasantly impressed. I really like the size of the bowl and how easy the scale is to reset to weigh something else. Price is perfect. Overall, LOVE IT!

The whole thing probably weights 1 lb or so, so it is made of very very cheap plastic. The bowl is plastic as well and it is very small. This is my first digital scale so I have not compared to other products but it is not stable. I weighted my ingredients using gram, but the number jumps up and down. Since I used the TARE function, which means I pretty much had everything there one by one, then push TARE so that I can add more without dirtying up a different container. When I was adding 12 gram of salt the scale stopped at 12, and just when I was ready to TARE and add the rest of the ingredients, it all of a sudden jumped to 14 then went back to 13. The only reason I went for digital is for the accuracy but this scale at least does not seem to be able to perform well.

This is a terrible scale. I put a sweet potato on it and it gave me a weight of 14.2 oz. I turn off the scale and turn it back on. I weigh the same potato again and it gives me a weight of 1 lb 4 oz. The display screen also likes to freeze for no reason whatsoever. This scale may look good and be cheap, but it doesn't do its job of weighing things accurately. Avoid.
