Zinc picolinate is chelated to picolinic amino acids. All zinc supplements are supposed to state how much available zinc is contained, in addition to the total in the tablet, but (like too many) this one doesn't. Only a small proportion is absorbed; for example, a 15 mg zinc tablet, like this one, may provide only 5 mg of zinc. Another product, one that claims 70mg total, is actually only 10mg (at least that label procided this important detail) but too many zinc products avoid stating the real amount available to the body (usually just 15-30% of the total zinc in the tablet).

Once I learned that ionic minerals are the only ones that are water soluble in your water-based body, I threw this out and took liquid ionic zinc but only for for a few months, to improve the balance between copper and zinc. Ionic minerals like these are the only ones that are water soluble in your water-based body. The minerals we put in our bodies must be water soluble to be absorbed and utilized. With any vitamin or mineral that is water-soluble and easily excreted, the body can tolerate fairly large amounts.

Ignore those warnings that you should always supplement with copper when you take zinc, because most of us have copper overload - as explained in the book "Why Am I Always So Tired". Researchers found that oral zinc increased excretion of copper threefold in schizophrenics, and adding manganese increased it even more. Some people with thyroid issues have experienced racing heart and extreme fatigue when zinc detoxes copper.

Great product. I have gene mutation that does not absorb zinc well, and sensitive digestion. These went down fine after a few days to transition. Wish they were available in larger bottle on Amazon (as the double strength are).

I like all Thorne products, and the Zinc is the easiest on a person stomach. You can empty halt in a veggie cap, available here on Amazon... if you want to take less. I have found other brands, and prefer that this has no additives were not used! Wonderful product I do recommend.

I tend to be deficient in zinc, but most over the counter zinc I've taken makes me super nauseous. Not this one! I bought it through a naturopath and was surprised to find that I could take it without any side effects. Clearly not all zinc products are created equal.

Thorne is a quality product. If you need more information that Amazon provides, go to Thorne's web site and look their products up, then come back to Amazon and make your purchase, you won't be disappointed. I take one Thorne Zinc pill at night to supplement the zinc that is in my Thorne multivitamin I take in the morning.

With celiac disease, homozygous MTHFR variant (C677T), and multiple allergies, I have historically had all of the symptoms of zinc deficiency. With dietary correction, my health has improved immensely. I now have none of the symptoms of this deficiency, but I want it to stay that way! This seems to be a good, high quality product suitable for daily use.

This zinc supplement from Thorne Research is a small capsule that is easy to swallow.
There is no bad odor or taste or aftertaste.
I've had no bad side effects from taking this supplement.

We take this supplement in my house because of zinc deficiencies. I take their double strength, but give this one to my 11 year old. He's new at swallowing pills, and the small size is perfect. There is no gelatin, no magnesium stearate --no crap in these. This is a two month supply for the avg person, or a one month supply if you are a little low on zinc. If you have a severe deficiency, like we do, this is a good one to start taking as you work up your dose. Then switch to the double strength.

I'm very happy with these, and a customer for life.

Apparently vitamin C is not the only thing that helps prevent colds. Zinc, when taken at a slightly higher dosage (at least 25 to 30 mg) everyday, can be just as effective against colds. I tried the test, and I did not come down with a cold this past winter, neither did my daughter. However, my husband came down with a cold and was sick as a dog (had to take three days off from work), thanks to all his co-workers coming to work sick. He did not feel that taking Zinc would help him, and that was the result. I especially like this brand of zinc, and will continue to purchase it here.
