Plant caddies are all about the wheels. These are constructed well and will hold up to the weight of a heavy potted plant and will be able to moved along various substrates from smooth concrete, to wooden deck, to flagstone pavers. I have the 12" and 16" versions in my yard. I needed 3 more 12" ones, but Amazon was out of stock so I ordered 3 wooden, less expensive caddies. I thought that since my pots were only 10" it should be fine. As soon as I put a plant on one of the less expensive caddies, the wheel broke off! Returning all 3 and ordering these instead. I should have known better. You get what you pay for. Note: the 12" does not have a drainage hole so you will need to drill one (easy!) if you want this. The 16" does have a drainage hole.

This is only getting a low score rating because it is advertised as a 16 inch dolly. If you have an object with a 16 inch base and you want to put it on this 16 inch dolly. It will not work. The dolly really is only 15 inches. So if you if you have an object with a 15 inch base or smaller. This dolly will work. But if you have and object with a 16 inch base. This dolly will not work.

This product states that this is a 12 inch dolly. When it arrived I was so excited to start using it. I placed my 12 inch barrel on top and noticed it was not stable. I looked and it appeared my 12 barrel either grew a inch or this dolly is not 12 inches as it is stated. So I took my 12 inch ruler and laid it down on the dolly and took a picture for you to see that this dolly should state that it is 11 inches, and fits 11 inch. IT DOES NOT FIT 12 INCHES

I have owned several of these plant dollies for 4+ years and have yet to find another dolly more durable. The appearance even after being in the sun looks almost new. Very smooth moving wheels even with a heavy potted plant on board. Would highly recommend.

When I first looked at the picture of the plant dolly, it looked like there might be some type of hose that allowed the surface of the dolly to drain. That was not the case. There are no drain holes - except the ones that we drilled outselves. When deciding where to drill the holes, we were concerned to drill them at the very center (i.e., the lowest point), because we didn't want the center caster to fall off. Anyways, it's working fairly well now, and it seems to support our large wine barrel planter. By the way, to those of you who are considering using this for a planter that is larger than 24" diameter, the dolly has a raised rim.

Don't be fooled by "plant" in the description: I keep finding more uses for these inexpensive but super sturdy dollies. So far: whiskey barrel planters, fireplace log basket, garbage cans, 4-tier shoe tower. I attached one w/velcro strips to an old milk crate holding 30 bricks, which I can now literally push w/my foot. Super heavy duty, EXCELLENT casters which track really well, and AMAZINGLY LIGHTWEIGHT FOR HOW IT PERFORMS. I've painted two of them (w/spray paint for plastic) with great results: paint lays on well, and holds up to weather. Also nice that DeVault Cust Service answered really fast, & easily changed an order w/no hassles.
FYI: I don't write a review if a product functions as it's supposed to. I only review something I consider a real FIND.

That being said, the dolly was exactly what I was looking for. They blend in with my large black pots. I also spray painted the chrome wheel covers matte black. They allow me to move large potted evergreens inside my garage when the temp drops below 20 degrees or so. The 16" has a hole in the center of the dolly so there is no accumulation of water. However, the 24" collects water, as there is no center hole for drainage. Some may not see this as an issue, but I am mindful of standing water because of the potential for mosquitoes to lay eggs in the warm months. I simply drilled six 1/8" holes to eliminate that problem. I have a few large potted boxwoods that must easily weigh 100 lbs after watering. These dollies were exactly what I needed to eliminate a backbreaking and arduous ongoing project without the eyesore factor.

At last I've found a sturdy, clean design plant dolly that does what a plant dolly is supposed to do--help me roll my heavy plants around easily for cleaning and when I need to move them, without the wheels breaking. The plants I got them for weigh well under 100 lbs. and I'm using the 12" size, which fits my 13-14 inch diameter pots with about 1" of the caddy showing around the edges. These caddies are an unobtrusive all black rubber like material and not hard plastic. Like my black rubber garden hoses, they just seem to blend in and look good with plants. Also, I don't think they're made in China. The only suggestion I have for Devault is to paint the galvanized wheel supports black so they don't show. I plan to paint mine, because I use these for my heavy houseplants and the industrial look doesn't quite fit in. I think maybe I could just use a black marker...
