What could go wrong with two pieces of cover material and the usual bendable, metallic strip and clip, you ask? It's a small but fairly critical thing. That is, unlike other brands of this type of binder, the inner hinge of these is not already bent inward and ready for use. The user has to create the bend, and since the material is fairly thick, the bent part never lays flat.

In similar covers by other manufacturers, the cover hinge is bent at the factory where they have the proper machine to do it. After bending the cover over a sharp table edge, I even tried to make the bend flat by closing it in a door jam, but to no avail.

The result is that materials stored in these binders take up more room on the shelf than those by other manufacturers, assuming you make a nice, straight bend. Perhaps some people use them without the bent, inner hinge, but then the metallic parts are on the outside where they snag on things.

Next time, I'll buy pressboard covers made by Acco. They are no hassle compared to these.

I was hoping for a flat folding binder that is thinner than a 3-ring binder to store class notes. These report covers are less bulky than 3-ring binders and seem pretty sturdy. However, the hinge is not pre-folded, and I couldn't fold it flat enough. In the past, I've seen this type of cover that doesn't have a one-piece scored side hinge, but rather, some sort of two-piece taped hinge that folds much flatter. I'm returning these and trying another brand to see if it folds flatter.

These were perfectly adequate but not as nice as the ACCO brand that I usually order. I needed a few more and the cost was right. But, next time, I'll get the ACCO brand - you don't have to fold the edges like these and the folded edged lays flat, which after hours of weight on them, still hasn't happened.

Just what I was looking for. I scoured stationary stores and departments for these file folders - no luck. Several clerks in Staples did not seem to know what they are. But, once again, Amazon came through. They are similar in quality to those I already had. I'm sure I could use another type of file folder, but I just prefer these.

It's ridiculous that the advertiser did not include a picture of the fasteners how they work. I thought they were inside and was cheated how these were advertised. They were not what I expected. Since it costs money to send them back almost as much as buying them, I decided to keep them and will never buy anything like these without seeing the whole details.

Perfect for my college class reports. They're sturdy and they look professional. The only issue I had was that I wanted to put dividers in for one particularly lengthy report but all the dividers I had (from binders) were too large.

I had to buy this because a teacher required it as a notebook. This is the kind that expands with each document you add but it always remains flat. It worked as expected and we decided it works really well for keeping class notes organized. I might use it again.

I bought these specifically to match some I already had. They are absolutely not the same product I bought in the store. The brand, color, and product style number are the same but they seem either defective or a knockoff of the real thing. They come unfolded and unfinished. You need to fold each side in to create the spine but they don't fold flat so they won't stay closed. They are a different thickness and color than the real thing. They will serve the purpose if you don't really care how they look, and best for thick volumes that will be stored in a barn. They are not good for report covers!
