I read every review of this and several other torch/jet lighters before deciding to buy this one. I got the black Blazer CG-001. Purchased and fulfilled through Amazon, delivered 2nd day. Well packaged and it came in a small box with brief instructions. I'm not a junkie but I have a couple nice Zippo lighters, I'm a fan of large wooden matches for my cigars and pipes, and I do like the survival/utility aspect of a torch lighter. I've owned some really junk torch lighters in the past that didn't last, fell apart, etc, and this is the first "real" one I've bought.

So the most important thing!!! I took it out of the box, filled it from a new bottle of Colibri butane and IMMEDIATELY tried to strike it. FLAME! Sharp and crisp and strong. Tried to strike it again, same thing. About twenty strikes later, I had no failures and no hiccups. I ran it for a good five or six seconds, let it go out, and then re-struck, fired right up. It was working perfectly. Over the next few days I used it randomly, as a cigarette smoker might. Again, worked perfectly.

It's only been a few days but so far the CG-001 has worked flawlessly for me, and still has at least 60% of the charge it had to begin with. I've lit several cigars and a tobacco pipe and it did a great job. The flame itself is sharp and hot and easily controlled.

Downside, the flow control doesn't do much. The difference between full throttle and drawn down is very minimal, although there is some difference visually. I put it at the lowest setting and will likely just leave it there.

There hasn't been much wind here, so I held it near my car window while driving. It isn't windproof, but it will light in a fairly stout breeze.Read more ›

I had a Blazer PB207 that I used for about 5 years to light cigars. It was the best lighter I've ever had. I bought two of these, intending to use one as a gift. Neither works, They spark, but go out immediately. And it's considered hazardous, so Amazon won't let me return it. Brilliant. $65 down the drain on useless crap.

I don't usually write reviews but I have to on this one. Listen to the other reviewers -- I took a chance and lost. All I can say is this lighter is not worth $3 let alone $35 -- the flame goes out just by moving the lighter. A basic BIC lighter works better. And the flame adjuster does not work -- in fact, it only lights when it is placed in the maximum position. So why the positive reviews? If they are true - then there are significant quality issues at Blazer and I have a lemon. And I cannot return it. An expensive lesson indeed. Will try my luck contacting the manufacturer but again, based on other reviews, I don't expect much. If you are looking for a good storm proof lighter, go to retail and make sure it works first!!
UPDATE: Customer service sent me a return authorization and repaired the item. It works as it should now. very happy with it.

I was happy to see this lighter had a large tank to fill. That's the main reason why I purchased it. Didn't read any reviews, just went on the internet and bought it. Stupid mistake. While I love the light fluid holding capacity, I can't say anything else positive about this cigar lighter or the company that makes it.

Everything was fine, but only for the first few weeks. Two weeks later, the igniter wouldn't light the flame anymore. That's when I took it apart and noticed the igniter wire didn't reach far enough to ignite the flame. In pictures on the internet, I noticed new Blazer CG-001 lighters had a copper wire that bent out to where the flame would be, obviously to ignite it. My copper piece was missing. Not just I, but a lot of others are having similar problems with Blazer torch lighters. Check out YouTube for proof of that. It's obvious to me Blazer has a serious design flaw.

After contacting the company with an email explaining what was wrong and telling them I can fix it myself, I got this response from Mark Lugo of Blazer Products in this email he sent me: "We apologize for the inconvenience you've experience with your CG-001. While we don't normally send parts for our items if you're confident that you can replace the igniter we'll certainly get one right out to you. It will be send via 1st Class Mail to the address listed below." This email message was dated 24 of September, 2012. As of this date, 28 of October, 2012, I have yet to see anything from this company. I contacted Mark Lugo twice more times after not receiving what he promised to send me. He never responded.

This is proof that this company makes faulty products, lies to you and doesn't stand behind their products. So trust me when I say, DON'T BUY THEIR PRODUCTS! But, the choice is up to you.Read more ›

This is a very good cigar lighter. True it occasionally has to be clicked twice but usually lights the first time. The tank is huge! Doesn't seem to heat up even with prolonged use. Just remember that it is a single jet and does not generate as much heats as a multy-jet lighter.
