I just received this fan yesterday. The fan was in it's original box which was packed in another box -it was packed well and neither box was damaged. I gave this 3 stars because the quality out of the box was poor but the fan worked well.

When I took the fan out of the box to assemble it the 1st thing I noticed was the "Lasko" emblem on the front of the fan had several severe blemishes -which would've been ok if it was in the bargain bin and I didn't just pay $30 for it.

As I was putting the fan together I noticed that one of the 4 corner clips that hold the fan on the base was broken off and missing -so, it happened before it was packaged at the fan factory -the other 3 clips did hold the base on and it was not easily noticed until the fan was picked up -then that corner lifted out of the base. Again if it was a bargain bin item I would've dealt with it but, I paid full price and I want it to be perfect and not scratched and broken.

I had already decided to return the fan because of the quality issue's but, I continued with the assembly to see if it worked well. So, I did get it fully assembled and turned it on for about 10 minutes -it has a regular expected fan noise that was very steady and quiet. There weren't any annoying sounds -like rattling, clicking or squeaking. The breeze it produced (on all 3 speeds) was better than my current Holmes table fan -so, the breeze was better than expected. I have no idea if it would've continued to be that quiet after years of use.

Assembly and disassembly was similar to putting together a toddler's puzzle - i.e. very easy and directions were not needed.

Thjie fan is light weight and easy to position . It runs quietly and provides plenty of air circulation. The own downside is it is mostly plastic; I have only had it for several weeks so I hope it holds up.

I read the negative reviews. Most complain of too much airflow on low and too much noise on the higher settings. If you don't want a lot of airflow, there are a lot of cheaper fans on the market that will most definitely have less airflow.
As for noise, the fan motor is nearly silent, but yes, the fan pushes a lot of air and makes noise in proportion to the air moving from the fan. It's not a little desk top fan to give you a bit of breeze at a close distance. It's a premium fan, it's made to make a lot of air move and it does a great job of that. I've bought other Lasko fans, I've run this one nearly non-stop for months and this one lives up to the quality that I expect (and found it for a good price, here).
I pay as little as possible, but I pay for all of my items and I don't take any kind of payment or trade for my reviews.

Good fan. Being a fan person, I find the fan is just a little to quiet for my tastes, but is usable. There is not a whole lot of noticable difference in the speed settings. The fan is very light in weight.

I am comparing this to a Galaxy that is approaching 30 years old. The Galaxy is much quieter. This is relatively noisy, but not as noisy as a box fan. It does oscillate a great angle, though this feature is not needed. Also, there is little difference between low and high, with respect to either noise or air flow. I have had it a few weeks so I can not comment on durability, but it should last a long time. The Galaxy has been put back in service after repairs....

I have used this fan every night for the last 5 years or more. Moved a few times and it kept going strong. Recently my husband knocked it off the table and it fell on the floor and one of the blades broke off. Even with 2 blades it still works, unfortunately because of the weight imbalance it makes a terrible noise so it can't be used. I am going to order a new one because I need a fan and I like the amount of noise it provides. Actually I have trouble sleeping without it.

My family and I depend on the Lasko brand for fans. They are easy to assemble and clean. The directions are clearly detailed and its motor is almost silent at its lowest setting; at its highest setting, it makes a buzz sound making it hard to hear. The fan tilts up and down which is very useful. However in the past month in California, when the days were very humid, all it can do is take the edge off.
