These collars conceal the fact that you are using a choke collar. This saves explaining to the uninformed how and why a choke collar can be an invaluable training aid. They do not release as quickly as the original style, but not t0o bad.

Nice product but these run small. I recommend buying the next larger size and remove links if needed. It is also important for people to use these collars properly. They should be used as high up on the neck as possible, NOT down where a regular collar would typically sit. This will assure you are not choking your dog or damaging their larynx. It matters how you put them on. If you walk with your dog on your left, hold the collar and attached leash so it makes a letter "P" - not a letter "Q" as you face your dog. Putting the collar on properly will insure that it releases and loosens when you ease up. The collars really should not be called "choke" collars. They only choke when misused. A dog should NEVER be tied up to a choke collar, even if you are just going in somewhere for a minute. They should only be used with a leash, and only by people who know how to use them. It should just barely fit over your dogs head without hurting on the way on. If it is too small it will go on but be very hard to take off and may hurt your dog's ears on the way off. Remember this is not a device to help you win a tug of war with your dog. It is a device to alert your dog that you do not like what she is doing or about to do. It should be used with a quick tug and release to the side. It is to interrupt their thought process or fixation. For example as you approach a dog coming towards you and your dog is going into an excited or fixated state, give a quick tug towards you to get have your dog focus on you and not the approaching dog.Read more ›

Visible and safe, doesn't rust too soon but don't get in in salt water. I just wish it was lighter weight so it would be easier to keep the ring at the top and not under my dogs chin where it tightens and loosens less easily.

The choke chain works as expected, and looks way better than a plain chain. I could have used one maybe an inch or two longer, but the 18 inch fits for now. I have three Australian cattle dogs, all brothers, about 1 year old. They compete to see who can be in front, and this helps me train that impulse out of them. Actually works really well, especially when you work with them one on one. Three at once is still a challenge.

I measured our dog and his neck was 15 inches. Another reviewer said order a size up so I ordered an 18 inch. It is barely workable so I would say order 2-3 sizes up depending on how much give you want on the choke.

These are nice but they need to be clearer on how to size the dang thing. I bought the first one after i measured my dogs old one (Not this brand but similar look) and ordered accordingly. It was too small. My Doberman looked like the Huld growing out of its collar. So then i bought the next size up. She slipped the collar the first day becasue it was too big. Eh, for the price its fine. She has a fenced in yard to play in so we let her run naked(No collar) but when we go out for a run or walk i slip one of these on to her with her leash and its fine.
