I've had this monitor for a couple of weeks now and I am very happy with it. It was actually a present from my wife after my last check-up where the nurse had measured around 140/90 and I knew that was what they call the "white coat syndrome" since checking the pressure using those machines you find at stores always reported something around 120/80. In fact, at least in my case, when I check the pressure the first time I frequently have higher pressure and pulse (I suppose because I am always active) but after a few minutes, when I calm down I get readings around 120/80 (lower than that in the mornings), which change only by a few points if I repeat even multiple times.

I was very surprised reading other comments complaining about inaccurate readings and I suspect this may be due to improper usage. Both my wife and I always get very consistent readings by just following the directions as for wearing the cuff properly, resting the arm with the cuff at heart height, etc. I also checked online and this machine is reported as being of medical quality by the British Hypertension Society.

Another great feature is the ability to store (up to 99) readings in memory for two separate people which we now use (so that my wife can show me how her pressure is always lower than mine ... ;-)). We also used the included software and USB cable to download the readings into the supplied program. This is really nice as you pressure readings gets displayed clearly in diferent ways and you can also print them and take them to the doctor with you.

I did spend a few minutes to undestand how to assign different users for me and my wife and link them to the monitor. But it was my fault as I should have installed the program with the monitor already connected.

So, all in all, this is a great machine which in my opinion has a great quality/price ratio!

Whenever I am about to buy something online, I always, ALWAYS check out other reviews first before forking over my $$$. And I invariably start my research reading the lowest ranking reviews. I prefer to know what's *wrong* with an item first; its deficiencies, its failure rate, how the quality is etc etc. And I am wary by nature; glowing reviews for anything ring my alarm bells.

And so it was with this item. Seems many people have had problems with it; quality problems, incorrect readings (in some cases dramatically so) I also read about it on Consumer Reports, but they had a pretty good write up there. I guess the only way I was going to know, was to try one for myself. So when I saw this for sale in Costco for a great price ($20 less than the online price quoted here) I thought "Well I'll try it out. it it's as bad as I hear, I can always bring it back" One of the great things about buying from a "brick and mortar" establishment is being able to return items with no hassles. I buy tons of stuff from Amazon, but this was right there, so I took the chance.

So I've had it for about week now. I know that's not long, but so far I'm pretty happy with it. My readings are consistent(not like my old one which could be 30-40 points between readings and gave me great cause for concern. My guess is the rubber on the 10-yr-old tubing is developing small leaks) This Microlife is pretty easy to operate and it does exactly what is says it will do. We'll keep an eye on any fluctuations or inconsistencies, but so far, we really like it. I make sure the cuff is correctly positioned, that I'm not pinching the tube in any way and that I'm sitting with my feet flat on the ground and relaxed. I really like the ability to automatically take three separate readings (15 seconds between each) and it averages them out. All the readings so far are right on the money.

I purchased this at COSTCO for about $38. The price is lower than any others on Amazon but more importantly, I was concerned about accuracy and consistency of the unit given the nature of the comments for this and other home BP monitors. I have since tried it and I have been getting different readings. The unit has an option to perform a three reading average which is suppose to be more accurate. I like the fact that you can connect to the PC (not Mac), the OMRON units seem to be more expensive overall and especially for their unit having that feature. The cuff on this unit can fit up to an 18" diameter whereas the OMRON needed an additional cuff for $19 to go all the way up to 17". One thing that I don't like about this unit is that it does not turn off (where the screen is blank. I found that when I place the unit back into the carrying case, its easy to hit the start button which causes the unit to take a BP measurement while in the case. The unit came with an AC adapter which is nice except it does not fit cleanly into the carrying case, but at least you don't need to run it on the 4AA batteries all the time.

Of course the true test of the unit is the accuracy of the reading. This is a function of learning how to place the cuff in the correct location and whether the unit itself is accurate or not. I plan on bringing the unit to the doctor's office and test it out using the doctors BP monitor to compare readings. Clearly this is too important to rely on without verification. Good luck....
