Living in Arizona without back seat AC, the kids in the backseat have to sweat through every car ride in the summer. This fan is perfect. It plugs rights into the car charger, can clip to the headrest post or the coat hanger and blows vigorously enough cool the whole back row. Since we purchased it a few months ago, the fan has been tossed, crushed, and dropped and has withstood all of it. Especially for the price, if you need a fan for your car, this is a bargain.

The only complaint that I had was needing to assemble the clip on assembly when the fan arrived, but this only took a few minutes. Also beware with small children, the space between the wires on the cover are large enough for my one-year-old to slip his fingers in.

Several people have commented that it is loud. It is VERY loud... like hearing damage loud, BUT I figured out a way to make it quiet. The part that's rattling is the 'cage' around the fan blades. I simply took a handful of rubber bands and went around it in a few places, and voila, no more noise.

If you like fans partially because they are loud (I kind of do) then this is a decent fan. It either oscillates or doesn't and only has one speed. Hooked up to my fluke I measured 1.1A draw (not too bad).

This fan really blows the air around. We are using it in our toy hauler (travel trailer). It is also very noisy but that is what we were looking for. We have a baby and needed some kind of white noise to help him sleep through us coming in at night. It has a very consistant hum.

I got a great deal on a nearly new used car - the only downside... no AC. And it just so happens to be summer right now and in the midst of a heat wave. Greeaat.

This is not AC - but it does get the air moving in the car much better than just having the window's open (and when it's hot and rainy and the window's are NOT open it's a life saver). This is a much more substantial fan than I was expecting. Larger than I pictured - with wire coverings for the fan, with a pretty robust mounting system. Minor assembly is easy (make sure you get the screw/bolt pretty tight - and be prepared to re-tighten after) and the clip mount is surprisingly substantial.

I have mine hanging down from the passenger sun visor. While it's an oscillating fan (and not just back and forth but up and down too) you have the option of turning that off so it points in one direction. As others have said, yes it's loud - but if you want a strong fan, accept it will be loud. Depending on placement in the car, visibility of rear view mirrors could be compromised. If I had a cup holder placed below the stereo I might have opted for the 12 v fan that simply sits in the cup holder - but since I don't I went with this and am generally pleased with the purchase.

It's not AC but improves quality of life for a non AC car (and around here that's at most 2 months out of the year when you need it)

I'm a over the road truck driver and used this in the cab when sleeping. Or shall I saw, connected it once and returned it. This thing is WAY to loud. I like a little white noise when I'm sleeping, but come on.. It also has no on/off switch so you have to pull the cigarette cord out to turn it off. I went to Walmart and got exactly what I needed.

Does anybody put any thought into their R&D anymore??!

Great clip, also has a permanent mount plate with some dinky screws included with it. The oscillation switch is flimsy and seems like parts of the gearbox are still whirring with the oscillation gear disengaged. It's a powerful fan, and on a bus or delivery vehicle, or probably anything with the windows down, it would fit right in. For use in a closed up car, the motor is probably set to run too fast. It's comfortable to sit next to at about 7.5V. Since I'm making a buck regulator anyway to attach a fan to my mother-in-law's 24V scooter, that's what I'll use. Now that I think of it, wiring two of them in series would probably be a win.
