I concur with both previous reviews that these are a good replacement step. My biggest concern was the width of the step. It's not listed in the specs and amazon couldn't tell me. I'm listing it here, so hopefully this info will help someone else. One small issue was the hole on each side of the step that the mounting bolts use needed to be slightly modified so the steps mated correctly to the ladder bolts. I could have probably used them the way they came but in order to make them fit perfectly I redrilled the hole in the right place. Not a difficult job at all, took me about 5 minutes to do. I also agree it's probably better to replace all your steps at the same time as I found diffent brands of steps vary slightly in width.

HEADS UP: I received and measured the 87901 Pool Ladder Step, the correct size is 17 5/8" at the narrowest point where the ladder is bolted to the step. My current steps measure exactly 18" at the same point. The idea of buying all new steps for a ladder makes sense at first, since they all should be the same width and the ladder will fit together properly. BUT, if the steps are narrower, (or wider), AND the ladder fits into collars set in cement, there will be a problem. I think this is why a previous reviewer said the bolt holes needed to be re-drilled. These step's bolt holes lined up fine with my ladder. If you invision it..., with a narrower or wider step, without being bolted, if the ladder legs are rotated to fit the deck pool holes, the bolt holes for the step won't line up with the holes in the ladder legs, thus new holes need to be drilled, either in the steps or ladder legs. I've tried locating an 18" step on Hydro Tools website without success, as of yet. I hope this helps.

I called a local pool store to inquire about replacement steps for my pool ladder, which had one really worn out step and one missing step when we bought the house earlier this year. The pool store guy asked me the ladder brand - I didn't know. He asked me the age of the ladder - I didn't know. I asked him if I could look at/try out what they have to see if it will fit - he doesn't carry them in stock; only special-orders them. Told me without knowing the brand and/or age of my pool ladder, it would be really difficult to get the right step.

I looked at amazon and found this pool step, which looked like it would work. I ordered two pool ladder steps. The whole process took about 5 minutes...

The steps fit perfectly and look great. Only hassle in install process was removing the old, worn out step (I wound up using a hack saw to cut the old step off close to the bolts holding it to the ladder, then I was able to get enough grip on both nut and bolt to remove them). Installation of new steps was waaaay easy. The steps appear to be very durable and I expect years of service from them.

I chose not to purchase the expensive (about $20) amazon-suggested add-on set of nuts and bolts for the ladder. Instead, I went to my local big box home improvement store and picked up what I needed for a fraction of this amount.

So, thanks amazon for turning this quantum physics-like problem at the pool store into a fast and easy shopping experience!

I was a little hesitant to order, because the description didn't include a lot of information. I ordered 3 to replace the 3 old steps on my inground pool ladder. They fit just right and have made the ladder almost brand new again. Lengthwise they were identical to the ones they replaced, but the they are a bit thicker in the middle. I see that as a plus as they will be easier to use to get in and out of the pool. This was easily the best price I found anywhere on the internet for replacement steps.

Not too much more to say about it than that. It was slightly off in size from what I needed, but that was because I never measured anything. I eyeballed it, read the dimensions on this step and thought, "good enough!" and ordered it. It was ever-so-slightly undersized, but what I did (hopefully this helps at least one person) is cut out the curved part of the old step where it met up with the railings and used it as a shim between the new steps and the railings since they a) were the proper curvature and b) already had the proper hole for the screw.

At 250 pounds, I've been happy with the step while using it.

Needed to replace all three pool ladder steps because they were now starting to chalk along with having cracks where the bolts went through the plastic hole area. Found these on line at a great price. (It's much easier to search when you're dealing with an exact part number this way you know that you're comparing prices for the same item.) With the assistance of my 5 year old grandson (and the brand new stainless steel ladder bolts) we were able to swap out the old for the new in about 20 minutes. (We put all 6 bolts in loose and then once the ladder was flat on the ground we tightened everything. I didn't have to re-drill any holes as I had read on a previous review.)
