PJ Morton's album "Walk alone" opens with the titletrack, a lovely piano/string ballad you could imagine from Stevie Wonder. His voice is smooth, laid back and passionate.

The myriad of styles and influences continues on the Musiq Soulchild-channeling groovy clap-sprinkled "Girlfriend", the Rock-laced "She's gone" laced with fleeting horns, Marvin Gaye on the clap-laden "I need your love", Lovers Rock on the lilting "Love you more" featuring Tweet (now where has she been?), and Kirk Franklin-style Gospel on "Let go" featuring his father Bishop Paul S. Morton.

"The one" is a truly beautiful ballad with cello, an Elton John-channeling piano riff and lovely coda. "Son of a preacherman" has spoken/rapped biographical lyrics touching on his parents' desire for him to become a preacher like them, or at least a Gospel singer, but he followed his own path. The inspirational "Mountains and molehills" is a piano ballad with Gospel-style harmonies and icy strings.

The album cover is colourful and beautiful, this is a good case of judging a book by its cover. Great stuff!

PJ Morton is one of my favorite artists, and this album doesn't disappoint! How he has time to be the keyboardist and vocalist for Maroon 5, and still make great music on his own, is beyond me! But he does it!!! You should listen to everything he puts out!

I had heard some of his older songs, but I never knew who he was. I'm glad I chose to buy "Walk Alone" without listening to it first. It has the kind of love songs that are smooth not sexual explicit. "Walk Alone" has found a home in my car and on my zune in this order, 1. Raheem Devaughn 2. Prince 3. Eric Roberson 4.PJ Morton 5. Anthony David. PJ has given me more good lasting music. The kind of music that's good to the soul.

My friend hipped me to "The One" and i wanted to hear more. My Favorites on this album are "Love you More" w/Tweet and " I Need your Love". He has a great flare for words. He also wrote the Gospel hit "Let Go" made popular by DeWayne Woods. I was at the Essence Music Festival 2010 and he was really charismatic and his band was really good. He also does a soulful rendition of the themes from Golden Girls and Cheers. I gave up watching Mary J Blige to see him perform and wasnt disappointed.

He is a PK( Preacher's Kid) so I guess there is an assumption that he should be Doing Gospel, but i appreciate his type of R&B that is respectable and yet still progressive. I also purchased this Emotions CD while I was watching him perform.

I say check him out .. and you wont be disappointed.

Oh yeah.. he has a song called "New Orleans Girls" which is really cute. Not from LA but It represents them well.

PJ Morton's "Walk Alone" album is definitely one worth purchasing. If you've been a fan of his for a while now, you will NOT be disappointed. He takes his musical genius to another level on this project, as his music is pure and heartfelt. If you're new to his music, trust me...you'll want to also order his previous albums "Emotions" and "Live in LA". Also, "Freeversation" is one for the collection as well. "Walk Alone" is an album you can relate to if you've ever been in a relationship, as it covers all stages of relationships. PICK IT UP...NOW! :)
