I suffered three flats in two weeks between my wife's bicycles and mine. I installed Mr Tuffy Ultra-Lite in our road bikes and the original Mr Tuffy on her hybrid and my MTB.

Zero flats since. I was waiting to write this review until I saw something in one of the tires that made me feel confident I would've gotten a flat without the liner... and last weekend, it happened. After riding a bike path that some miscreants had broken a few bottles on, I checked our tires carefully for cuts. No cuts, thankfully, but my wife's tire did have a broken-off remnant of a thorn.

If you live in the middle of the US, you've seen the goathead thorns. They're tough stickers, basically nature's caltrops. I've pulled a thorn out of tires many times, always resulting in a flat.

Not this time. I pulled a thorn out that was as thick as the head of a needle and 2mm long. Sold for life... if I have tubes, I'm gonna have Mr Tuffy liners protecting them. Between our bikes we've already done over 800 miles with no flats. Only one of our tires is particularly known for durability-- it's a Continental GP 4 Season. The rest of them on all bikes are typical tires with one rubber or kevlar protection belt.

I won't bother with Panaracer or Slime liners. My dad has tried those and doubted that Mr Tuffy would work.

While the following review was for the normal weight liners I haven't had a flat on the Ultra Lites either. Will update a mileage increases.

So far, so good. Rode the Cross Florida (167 miles) twice with no flats, but honestly the tires looked very good afterwards so I'm not sure the liners got tested. Will update as mileage increases.
Update: 1230 miles without a problem. I did get a pinch flat from hitting something on the road but the holes (yes 2!) were caused by the spoke holes through the rim tape. I had seen a fairly good cut in the tire earlier and when I checked the Mr. Tuffy liner I could see where something had poked it and deformed it but no hole in the liner or tube so that was clearly a flat I didn't get because of the liner. I'm removing the tires and tubes this week (6-22) for a thorough inspection and will update after.
Update: 2200 miles, still no flats. Rear tire wore and while I replacing it, I found a piece of stainless wire stuck in the Mr. Tuffy liner (photo) but it didn't penetrate.
Update over 6000 miles. Still no flats with several sets of tires. Last change had 3 visible holes through the tire including a large one caused by a piece of glass (2 photos). Nothing made it through the liner.

Every since I installed this I haven't had a flat in 4 months. In Miami there are nails and screws everywhere. This thing just works. Yes it adds a little bit of weight but you know what... eat a lighter breakfast the day you ride and it makes up for it.

It just trumps having a flat and having to stop your ride and workout for not adding a few grams of weight to your bike.

I got these about 8 months ago for my cyclocross after getting three punctures in one week. I have used all kinds of tubes that promise this and that and found them all wanting. I ride over broken glass on roads and tough trails all the time and have still not had a puncture in the 8 months since I put in Mr. tuffy's.
I will put them in every bike I ever own from here out.

I've been using Mr Tuff for years, on all by bikes. I race on the ultra lights and have never gotten a flat in a race. Its so light that there is little or no penalty for the extra weight. I won't race without them/

While no product can prevent all glass/thorns/nails/whatever from getting to your bicycle tubes, Mr. Tuffy has made me breathe a lot easier. I go out on a daily ride and my path often covers broken glass, nails and all sorts of thick thorns. Since installing Mr. Tuffy on my bike (and also the wheel of my bike trailer), I've had absolutely no flats.

Light weight and peace of mind--what more can you ask for?

I bought this for my daughter's bike as she was always getting goat-head thorns in her tires, thus causing flats. They have not prevented her from getting flats from goat-heads. I was really hoping this would solve what seems to be a never ending problem with flat tires for her.

The kids kept going off the road and getting flat tires due to goat head stickers in the fields and those that blow onto the road, The inserts plus thorn resistant tubes did the trick. No more flat tires!!
