    I don't know what happened to the Kamik boots. I am completely perplexed!!!!
    We have loved Kamik boots forever. Our family has been buying them for the kids for the last several years, but I have used them for much longer over the decades and I just retired my last pair of 11 year old Kamiks.

    The latest pair I got for my oldest daughter has been HORRIFIC. She has been complaining all winter about her feet getting cold, but I couldn't fathom how that was possible. They look the same as the old Kamiks, but when I finally got my hands on them and compared them to the 2 older pairs we have, they are simply awful.

    How?
    1. Well the soles are so thin and flimsy that I can bend them every which way with little effort. They feel like a thin pair of summer flip flops and not a rugged durable winter boot. There is nothing between your foot and the snow.

    2. The boots don't keep water or slush out.... this means her feet get wet during melt offs and the boots begin to stink like a 12-year old boys feet. The sides of the boots simply get soaked and leach water into the liner and feet. It seems to come right through and at a rather rapid pace.

    3. The boots wear through the soles and get holes in the bottoms. Now I expect for every shoe to get worn through at some point, but my son's 6 year old kamik's that were used by 2 other kids just wore through. These new ones are almost shot after a season of 5 months use. Simply Terrible and unacceptable.

    I don't really understand how the quality of these boots has gotten so bad. I have always loved Kamik boots, so I went into our local shop and low and behold, in a side by side comparison with my 11 year old Kamiks... they are not the same.    Read more ›

    I bought these boots for my 2.5 year old daughter 2 months ago (from a local store) anticipating the winter season. I bought her regular size and they are not too small like other reviewers felt. She can actually put them on herself and close the ankle velcro strap and tighten the cinch on the top and she loves them. HOWEVER, any time she jumps in a puddle (and when she recently played in the wet snow) and the fabric gets wet, it leaks right into the inside. Her socks are soaked every time. I figured out that this is because the felt insert has a split in the front so that the boot fabric comes in contact with her sock right where the velcro strap goes across and the water soaks right in. This is disappointing for such an expensive toddler boot. I suspect that as it gets colder out and the snow is not so wet, or when we will be pulling snow pants over this area anyway, this will be less of a problem but it is still aggravating. I sprayed the fabric with waterproofing spray and maybe this will help but in the meantime I had to take small plastic sandwich bags and tuck them between the fabric and the felt liner in the front. I should not have to do that for this price.

    My son says these boots are very comfortable and keep his feet warm while playing outside. We live in Fairbanks, AK where temps reach -50 easily and the kids play outside for recess until minus 20 degrees!!!

    These boots are quite heavy. My 2yro had to practice a bit before she could walk in them well. But once she mastered them, she never wanted to take them off! They are very warm and incredibly sturdy, and keep my kids' feet and calves bone-dry for well over an hour of hard play in deep snow. They'll probably last through several kids, if the inside lining holds up.

    I bought this pair for my 4 year old son to wear in the Tahoe snow. The Kamik Rockets are especially nice because you can cinch the top, thus keeping the snow and cold out. My son wore them over multiple days tromping through deep snow and sledding, and never once complained that his feet were cold, even on a day that dipped below 10 degrees. Because the inside never got wet, they never needed to dry out - so he could wear them whenever needed. These are definitely worth the price. Super durable and comfortable. He wears a size nine shoe and the size nine boot fit exactly. Will continue to buy Rockets in bigger sizes as needed through the years. Highly recommend!

    This will be my son's 3rd year in Kamik Rocket boots. As others have stated, they are not waterproof beyond the rubber bottom part but these boots are perfect for my 6 year old boy to play in. He wore his last pair for 2 years and they held up fantastically, the velcro did separate from the strap at one point toward the end of the second season but I used a little Tear Mender (also available on amazon) and it was fixed within 2 minutes.

    If it's exceptionally slushy and wet outside and I know my son will be soaking himself to his knees I just slip a plastic bag between the lining and the boot, you can't see it and it keeps his feet dry (Kamik should make a plastic insert cover for just this purpose, I'd buy that in a second!) For normal walking/play we don't have an issue with his feet getting wet. You can also waterproof the boots with one of those sprays if it's a really major issue - for me, it's not, my old school plastic bag between the lining and boot works just fine when the snow is more slush than powder.

    These boots keep my son's feet warm as he plays, the removable lining makes it easy to dry them out if they do happen to get wet, and I've even run the lining and boots through the wash when they got stinky from splashing in nasty mud puddles.

    I love these boots so much I bought the adult version for myself.
