The finish is a smooth polish. I used it to replace the 7/64" aluminum pin in an aluminum piano hinge - it fit perfectly and swings smoothly.

I ding this by 1 star because it was curved in the package. I was expecting it to be perfectly straight. I had to spend a while straightening it myself, and I got it fairly straight, not perfect but good enough for my application.

Quality piece of metal - I cut it into a few 11/16" pieces to check runout and tram my mill. Minus one star because it fell out of the box in my car (it was still straight). Good thing it wasn't in the back of the UPS truck!
