This is a good broad spectrum fungicide. The myclobutanil ingredient was introduced in the 1970s. But if you have root rot from overwatering it is typically caused by pythium fungus that is naturally present in the soil, and that is much harder to cure than the fungus that attacks the leaves. For pythium root rot there are some other fungicides to consider.

So far my favorites for root rot are: Phosphorous acid (Agri-Fos), Mefenoxam (Subdue MAXX), Azoxystrobin (Heritage), Pyraclostrobin + Boscalid (Pageant Intrinsic) and for a "natural approach" using beneficial bacteria: Bacilus subtilis (Serenade).

Phosphorous acid is interesting because it is such a good systemic fungicide, yet such a common chemical. It is often injected in tree trunks.

Bacilus subtilis is fascinating because this bacteria strain that is normally found in soil produces antifungal compounds that inhibit all kinds of fungus. This would be similar to eating yogurt or taking probiotic pills to help with digestion -- harnessing symbiotic relationships with bacteria.

Mefenoxam is powerful specifically against pythium root rot.

The strobilurin antifungal family is most interesting (such as azoxystrobin and pyraclostrobin). The strobilurins inhibit the electron transport in fungus mitochondria, and it also boost plant growth in mysterious ways that scientists don't quite fully understand (something to do with plant respiration and conserving plant energy for growth).

The above are systemic antifungals, so they absorb into the plant and work from the inside-out against pythium root rot.

I bought this product because my lawn had what appeared to be Brown Patch. I actually bought the ready-to-spray bottle, because I needed something quick from the local Home Depot and they didn't sell the concentrate. While I'm on it, don't buy the ready-to-spray version, because it really does not last long at all. Get the concentrate, because it costs just as much as the read-to-spray version and you get 32 gallons of finished product (1TBSP per gal), which will probably be significantly more than the ready-to-spray version.

At any rate, I sprayed this on my lawn, concentrating rather heavily on the brown areas. They tell you to do a light misting and that's what I did, except for the areas where the grass was really brown and patchy. I really saturated those areas for 3-4 seconds each. After about 5 days, I have seen an improvement in the brown, patchy areas. They're starting to green up a bit. It's not perfect yet, but there's no doubt I've seen an improvement. I suspect it'll take another week or so for my lawn to return to normal.

I fertilize organic. I suspect the organic fertilizer, combined with a very, very wet spring here on the East Coast has lead to this fungal problem. If you fertilize organic as well, this may be the solution to your problem. The problem wasn't the organic fertilizer, per say, but it was the fact that it had a chance to stay humid, wet, putrefy and mold. That can definitely cause problems.

I posted a picture of what my lawn looked like on the front page. If your lawn looks like that as well, try this product out.

I had a problem with cedar apple rust and with three sprays, I'd say it's about 80--90% reduced from last year, though not completely eradicated. The spray I had been using had captan for its fungicide and although it was labeled for cedar apple rust, some internet research surprised me with the information that captan doesn't work on CAR. Our weather here has been absolutely miserable this spring, and I believe if it weren't for the awful wet spring, this product might have completely eliminated the problem. I have my fingers crossed that this disease is not capable of developing resistance to this product. I have read that it is not, and I'm hoping that is accurate information.

This product goes a long way at the recommended dilutions, so the price of using it is very reasonable.

This product worked as described, but I had a few issues with it. My main complaint is that I think I waited much too long to use it. I decided to first try some "organic' and "home" remedies to control the mold issue I was having in and on potted plants on my lanai. That was my first mistake. While I was dabbling with White Vinegar, and an assortment of other household chemicals, the mold was destroying my plants.

By the time I actually had gotten around to applying this product, the damage was quite extensive. The product got to work quickly, but most of the damage had been already done. I mixed the product as described, and immediately noticed a reduction in powdery mildew and mold on the leaves of the plants. Most of them required a second and third heavier application before seeing the mold eradicated completely.

I have a wide variety of flowers and each had a varying reaction to this product. Most had little to no reaction to it, however, there were a few that were worth noting. A few of my more delicate orchids definitely had some yellowing of leaves and wilting flowers. They came back pretty strong. What was hit most strongly was my Blue Ginger. I don't think it will ever be coming back. What the mold didn't kill, the fungicide most definitely did.

Overall, I would recommend this product with a few disclaimers. First, start at the first warning signs of mold or any fungus, whether it is in the soil, on the leaves, or on the stalks. Second, if using on potted plants, make sure you are mixing the solution exactly. Too much of this product is not a good thing, it will burn up your delicate plants. It is much better to mix it too light, and apply it more often. Mold is resilient! Third, apply secondary precautions to help the fungicide.
