I've owned many RAM Mount items and all are top-notch in design and durability. This particular item is used for my GPS on my motorcycle. Many Japanese bikes with tubular handlebars (as opposed to clip-ons) that have fairing-mounted mirrors have unused mirror mounts on the brake and clutch perches, usually hidden beneath a plastic plug. Most are M10X1.25 pitch, also known as "Metric Fine" thread. The 4-star rating is because this item dosen't have flats for wrenching; it's hand-tighten only -- fortunately, the ball provides a lot of grip for hand-tightening.

Some bikes have plugged rear view mirror holes in the clutch and or brake lever assemblies because the manufacture has relocated the mirror onto the fairing. In that case, this RAM mount fits nicely into the unused mirror mount hole. It makes for a very clean installation of your GPS, etc. This tread size and pitch is common to motorcycles using the metric system. RAM also makes a ball mount that replaces the brake fluid reservoir's rectangular cover plate.

RAM Mounts are solid, and this piece is no exception. Feels solid and the ball has a tacky finish that allows other RAM accessories to hold on and not budge. This screwed directly into the (unused) mirror screws on my ninja 300, allowing for a clean install for my GPS mount. A drop of blue thread-locker and this guy isn't going anywhere. Quality product.

Received fairly quick, but could have been faster. I know, we have gotten use to having it now, versus having to wait. Item finish could have been better, the rubber ball residue or glue is on the chrome here and there. The item mounted up good, but without edges it makes it hard to tighten up with a wrench. Overall it is a quick easy functional add-on.

These mounts are great for converting your existing 10mm mirror mounts to Ram mount. I switched to a different set of mirrors on my motorcycle and this freed up the threadded mirror mounts for use as a GPS mount. Simply thread this Ram mount base in, and clamp on a Ram arm. Now I have a spot for my GPS. It couldnt be simpler.
