As these are my first tom heads I've ever bought myself, brand new, there was much room for a first impression, and it was a good impression! My drum set has concert toms, meaning one head, no bottom heads. This made me shop for some heads that have a darker tone, thicker heads that have minimal overtones. Concert heads are said to be difficult to get a good tone out of, but these heads manage to do that, quite well. I usually keep a low tuning, and they do a very good job of that, too. I hardly need to dampen the heads, because the overtones weren't too overwhelming. These are great heads, and I hope they last a long time!

andI've been playing for past 10 years and these are by far the best clear heads I've ever played. I play a Gretsch renown kit and was using G2 coated heads for the past year, but felt it was time for a change. First, I was extremely surprised when I opened the box and saw the "Level 360" logo printed on the head. This new technology is a drummer's God-send. I just placed the heads on, put the counter-hoop in place, and tightened the lugs. No need to stretch the head onto the shell, and tuning is super easy.

Overall, I am extremely happy with these heads. The sound quality is fantastic. They really make my drums sing because of their dynamic range. If you were hesitant on buying these like I was, don't be. The EC2's are well worth the money

I buy drum heads like crack. It seems like every weekend I fiend for new, different drum heads. I've tried so many heads. EC2, Ambassador clear and coated, Pinstripes, Emporer clear and coated, Vintage Emporer clear and coated, G1 clear, G2 coated, Aquarian Studio X, hydraulics. For clear heads, the Vintage Emporers are my favorite, and G2s for coated. I'd say this is an interesting head to say the least. Definitely more suited towards a low-end, fat audience. Very heavy-sounding. When playing at home, I always use some sort of muffling device; albeit moongel or control rings. I play in my basement which is surrounded by concrete, so muffling is needed in order to hear a clear note on my toms. With these heads, I found that muffling wasn't necessary on my toms. There are very light overtones that I can deal with. The best thing about these heads is that tone isn't sacrificed as a result of the cut in sustain. Normally, the heavier the head, the lower the tone (quieter). I found these heads to have some deepness to them. I can especially feel the bang of my 12'' in my stomach.
As we know, there are no written rules for tuning and the sound of your drums. The sound I think is ideal can be the sound you can't stand. I use Evans EC Resonant heads, which I tune at least a minor third above my batter head. I've never had any success tuning my reso head the same or lower as my batter heads, which is what a lot of drummers do. I prefer a higher-tuned reso head to cut excessive sustain (in my mind). I would give these heads a 4 out of 5. They aren't the heads of all heads to me, but worth playing for the week, and maybe again somewhere down the road!

These heads provided an incredible dynamic range, fast attack and nice sustain. Not too much sustain, but just enough.

I've used Evans heads exclusively for 25-30 years, and I have to say that these are my absolute new favorites. I bought them in 10", 12" and 14" for my DW Custom 6 ply maple kit on fast toms (the shallower toms). Even the guys in my band were like "dude!... those sound amazing". Seriously... do yourself a favor and try these out.

These heads replaced a set of Evans EC1. They also have the 360˚ tech.

These heads seated on the drums and tuned up quickly due to the new 360˚ tech. The Edge Control helps eliminate high-frequency overtones and produces a full, "round" sound from the drums. They are as durable as any other 2-ply Evans head.

Not overly impressed with these drum heads. Lots of ring and unpleasant overtones. Probably OK for some applications but for studio drumming these create a difficult situation for recording a good drum mix.

I originally was trying to order the Remo Pinstripes, but after waiting for 1 1/2 months for Amazon to send it to me, and then saying it would be at least another month (they never even contacted me on this until I contacted them), I finally decided to try the Evans equivalent. The sound is great, they look nice, and the durability should be there for awhile. Not to mention, I received these in less than two days, which is what I generally expect from Amazon.

Amazing Evans drumheads. I decided to try these heads out for the first time. I have never used Evans but it is such an amazing investment. I actually prefer Evans heads over Remo heads now because of their top notch quality. I love the tone and sound that these heads produce. I was curious about these drum heads because I have a discerning ear now and I knew that I would like to try these. I have to say that they didn't disappoint but they actually are better than what I expected. I HIGHLY! recommend them for a serious drummer who wants excellent quality.
