I have been using this product for years, purchased from salons for about $15. I ordered this product from Amazon when I saw it for around six bucks, but was skeptical. Sure enough, this looks to be a fake. The consistency is much different from the real stuff (as another reviewer also stated), and it didn't even fill out the entire tub; it was as if it were diluted and then put back in with a canister that is a little smaller, leaving a gap between the tub edge and the end of the product.

I would stay away from this counterfeit item.

Product received looked like the real deal and probably was - except that the lot number and other markings on the bottom of the tub were removed. Why was that done? Calls to question the origins of the product, to me at least. I may have saved a bit but I ended up going back to the B&M store for this to avoid any problems with the product.

This is the product I usually buy from the local hair place and it was about a buck or two cheaper on Amazon so I gave it a shot, I have to agree with the other reviewers that I'm not sure this is the real thing. The consistency seemed a bit off and after about two weeks I started to notice little black spots developing on the stuff - looks like mold or some kind of weird chemical reaction. Needless to say, I'm tossing it and will go back to buying it locally. It's not worth the $1 or $2 savings for what seems to be of questionable quality.
Probably purely coincidental, but I've also noticed a TON more gray hairs since using this - to be fair, my life is crazy stressful right now so that could also be to blame, but who knows?

Just so you know I didnt buy this from amazon but from a salon. I know some folks are complaining about the quality. In the video I compare and contrast this against a few other redkin products. All are supposed to have "Maximum control" with a matte finish. I can say that of the three I review in the video this is the firmest coming out of the container. I appreciate that because it gives you a little extra control and chunkiness when styling. I am an aging guy and as aging guys do my hair isnt as thick as it used to be. This product works well because it goes on and helps my style my hair without it always looking wet and all stuck together.

Smell sucks, hold isnt that great.

I do, however love the Redken for Men Maneuver, Working Wax. That stuff smells really good, has a much better texture and color, hair looks better. Wont be ordering this Outplay again but I am hooked on the Maneuver.
