I absolutely hate getting up early in the morning but with my work schedule from my new job, the only way I can get in a workout is if I go early in the morning. I started drinking these in the morning before going to the gym, as I remembered my mom drinking these when I was a teenager, and absolutely always being on the go. I was a bit nervous at first because I’m dairy free and I was hoping that they wouldn’t taste absolutely crazy with dairy free milk, as they were created with milk in mind. I first tried soy milk, All Natural Stevia Powder - No fillers, Additives or Artificial Ingredients of Any Kind - Highly Concentrated Stevia Extract Sugar Substitute (225g) and they were positively delicious. I have a wicked sweet tooth, even with my protein shakes, and so I add stevia because it’s a little sweetener with zero calories and additives and all of that good junk. I next tried them with almond milk, and they were still really delicious, and I think probably even better than with the soy milk. I’m really happy with the result of them, and definitely recommend the carnation packets to anyone who wants their nutrients before they start their day. I give this drink five stars.

We're seniors now & have had Carnation Instant breakfast
in our home for at least fourty yers. We enjoy it as much
today as we always have. We're ordinarily not real big on
a sit down breakfast & so we appreciate having the nourishment
of a sit down morning meal sort of "on the go". It's a great
benifit to find it at such a good price on Amazon AND have
it delivered to our home on a regular basis.
Years ago Carnation used to make a coffee flavored Instant
Breakfast srink & it was killer good! Seems like as many
varied coffee products selling so well these days they would
bring it back. We'd love that, & so might you. :)

I don't doubt that it's a darker flavor if you're comparing it solely to other carnation flavors, but compared to ordinary dark chocolate products it's surprisingly sweet. One of the benefits of switching to dark chocolate for me has been a re-sensitizing of my sweet tooth. I don't need nearly as much sugar as I used to in order to enjoy a dessert. I'm planning to try diluting it a little more next time and adding a little 100% cocoa to the mix.

If my heart were about to stop and I didn't have a syringe full of adrenaline, a swig of this might be a life saver. ;) But seriously, a better description for what this is might be "double chocolate" or something like that. The name isn't strictly wrong, but this is far sweeter than any dark chocolate I've ever had, so the name could mislead you some if you're looking for or looking to avoid dark chocolate.

If you consume mostly dark chocolate and prefer a less sugary experience, you may find this needs adjustment. If you don't normally like dark chocolate and have a stout sweet tooth, don't be too put off by the name. This might be right up your alley.

I decided to try the malt flavor instead of the regular chocolate that is always in stores and it is delicious! Not sure which I like better.. to me they are equally yummy!

This is the staple of my son's diet. Our nutritionist said he it has the same nutritional values as Pediasure but at about half the cost so we have been getting the Carnation Breakfast Essentials and using it since our son came off Formula. He has some medical needs that require us to supplement what he eats to make sure he gets enough protein and calories. He has between 1-4 'shakes' a day with the Carnation Breakfast Essentials in varying flavors and his weight is increasing and/or stable which is what we want/need. It has helped keep him healthy, out of the hospital and growing and he LOVES his 'shakes'! I don't know what I would do without this product! We certainly couldn't afford as much Pediasure as he is drinking of the Carnation Breakfast Essentials!

I love that I can order Carnation Vanilla packets on line for a dollar less then the stores (if you can find vanilla). Also get it in 2 days. Now these guys were $2.50 off per 10 packets and I saved over $40 on the order. Can't do much better than that.

Disappointed. I bought this product cause it was on low price hoping to have an alternative to the typical, very concentrated, liquid chocolate milk flavor. I was very let down by it. I was having an open mind to the taste and good expectations, still I could barely finish my glass of it. It tasted gross, much more gross than any type of milkshake I've ever tried, I kept trying hoping that the flavour would get better as I moved down and sipped more but it just got worse, eventhough I mixed it really well it all got stuck to the bottom of the glass. The flavour was really bad and by the time I got to the bottom is was wayyy too concentrated, but still a bad flavor :( I would def never buy this product again. I guess different people have different taste buds. 1/5 stars Hated it.
