Let's be fair: This item is designed to work in a 19 inch rack where noise isn't THAT much of a problem. For that usage this is a great fan.

I wanted it for a Home Theater system in my family room, and for THAT usage...the fans are audible. So if you have your "Stuff" in a closet where a little bit of noise is OK, go for it.

The unit itself appears to be well constructed. Plugs into 110AC and has a switch for on/off. Basic, simple, should work well in my closet system.

I really like this unit -- inexpensive for the amount of cooling it provides. The fans are a bit loud, but what can you expect... they are fans!

The only reason I didn't rate this higher is that I had a really difficult time installing this into a standard A/V rack. Though it claims to be 2U high, the bottom screw holes didn't align when the top holes were screwed in. I ended up having to offset the unit by one screw hole, so it takes up the top 2U space in my rack PLUS part of the 1U space below it, making this a 3U unit in practice. I've got a 72" rack about 75% full with units from various manufacturers (shelving, Episode rack-mount amps, Pioneer Elite receiver, Binary Digital video and IR distributors, Cisco rack-mount router, rack-mount power distributors, etc.) bolted in, and they all fit properly, so I don't think my rack is had odd hole spacing.

So with that exception, I love it and plan on ordering a second unit for another rack.

This product is too wide for a standard 19" rack. I installed other equipment into the rack without any problems, but when I tried to install this fan unit, it was too wide. It is also not a standard height. It is some where between two and three rack units in height. Therefore, even if it fit on the width, it would still waste vertical space in the rack. I'm returning today in favor of the Seismic Audio - SARF1 - Dual Cooling Fan for 19" Rack Cases - 2 Space. I should have paid more attention to the reviews before I bought this.

I placed these at the top of an enclosed 22U server rack to push hot air out at the top of the stack. The fans are not silent, but the noise level is insignificant compared to the servers next to them. While I think Pyle is usually in the audio rack business, they do a decent job for providing that extra bit of circulation for my server rack. The temperature of the components in my rack dropped from five degrees above room temperature to two degrees above room temperature - which I feel is a significant improvement. These aren't ultra-high CFM fans, but the three of them do an adequate job. I only have two servers, a couple of switches, a couple of UPS units, a monitor, and a KVM switch / keyboard in my rack. If I had more servers I would probably search for a higher-output fan set. As is for my application, I am pleased and will add a second set at the bottom of my rack to suck air in.

I used two of these to cool two separate racks of electrical equipment in a clean, indoor environment. They were on continuously but burned up (one literally got hot enough to burn) within 4 months of operation. These are supposedly professional grade cooling fans, they aren't. If you use them more than just occasionally, they WILL burn up. 4 months is nothing when you are dealing with professional quality products, these should have lasted 4 years. They both burned up within a week of each other (designed obsolescence?)

DO NOT BUY!!

These are quieter than some other reviewers describe so I like that about them. However, the square power box on the back with the power cord (normal PC power cord) that sticks out the back made it not fit where I wanted it to do. I had to mount it upside down to allow the power cord sticking straight out the back to extend between two of my amps where there was room. I have a 90 degree power cord I could try on it to see if that makes it more shallow and allow it to fit where I wanted it to go. I have it in the back of a 12 space rolling equipment box with 5 Amps and a graphic Equalizer so there were not a lot of choices for placement.

I bought two of these fan units for a 19 inch rackmount server cabinet. Both units have 2 bad fans each after 6 months of use.
The unit is built well and the electronics are still working, however the fans seem to be the issue. out of 8 fans, 4 are bad. The fans themselves seem to have bad bearings and make a really loud grinding noise when they go.
Product is made from cheap parts

purchased this cooling system to help cool my vintage components, so far it works great, I don't find its to noisy, moves the air nice, I picked this unit rather than the one that has temp reading, because I can turn it on and off when I want, one thing I have learned, don't throw the packaging away when you purchase Pyle products, esp their speakers! I will up date any problems that arise, all in all its worth the money, In my system the rack mount isn't that critical, so I can't say anything about mounting holes not lining up.
