The laminating pouches arrived this morning. I had already designed my business cards using Microsoft Publisher. The cards are two sided with photographs and text on both sides. I print ten each on an 8.5" X 11" photo paper from the local One Dollar Store (8 sheets for one dollar). So two sheets make ten two sided business cards.

The pouches came neatly and compactly separated in a small box with mini-packs of 100 each inside. There are also five heat folders to hold each pouch as it goes through the laminator. I turned these sideways so they are long enough to pass through the laminator (Scotch TL901), otherwise the pouch won't pass far enough out to easily recover the pouch. It comes close and the pouch will come out when the laminator is shook-up a bit, but turning them sideways eliminates this problem.

First I print both sides of the cards and trim off the outer waste. Then I use rubber cement to glue the two sides together. After this dries a bit I can then cut out the individual cards from the photo sheets. Waiting to make this cut until now assures alignment of the cards on both sides.

Finally, I insert a double sided card in a heat folder and pass it through my laminator. This is a full page 8.5" X 11" laminator, but it also works fine with these small pouches. These laminating pouches are of very good quality and very competitively priced.

Okay! I know! This is a lot of work to produce business cards. I wouldn't bother except that I'm retired and have a lot of time on my hands. I mostly use the cards to make friends at the local Dog Park. At the Dog Park I photograph dogs and children, and then I invite the owners/parents to email me for free copies.Read more ›

These are perfect for small projects. I am a teacher and I use these a lot. It's so much better to use these than to waste the laminate on the school laminator for small items.
