Just got these and like several others, they were too small for my thread. I tool 1/4 inch plastic tubing, cut into 1 1/2 sections, wet the end of the a handi Bobs and pushed into the tubing. Works like a charm! The tubing fits my thread spools snugly and holds the bobbins! Problem solved!! I'm very happy with these. I quilt and many of the threads are similar in color so hard to be sure you are using the right bobbin!

This bobin keeper is pretty cool. Keeps my bobbins tidy. The only negative is that they don't fit my skinny thread spools, like Gutermann, which is 99% of the thread I use. So, i just keep them in a drawer w/my threads and they are nice & tidy.

The Handi-Bobs HB18 don't work with different spool types. They only work with the short Coats & Clark type spools.

This is the best way I've found to keep the bobbin with the spool. I sew and quilt using a lot of different colors. The threads are very close in hue, making it difficult to discern what bobbin was wound from which spool. Additionally, I use several different types of thread. For example, I may have a regular multi-purpose spool, a spool of fine (thinner) thread, and a spool of hand quilting thread all in the exact same color. When I've had to store the bobbin apart from the spool I've had to waste a considerable amount of time trying to figure out which bobbin comes from which spool of thread. With the Handi-Bobs, I store the bobbin with the spool and I don't get the types of thread mixed up from one another. The only time I spend deciding which spool/bobbin combination to use is when I'm matching the thread color to the fabric.

I've tried other kinds of gadgets and other ways of keeping the bobbins and their matching spool together, but found problems with each other method I've tried. One great advantage to this method is when I store the spools of thread, the hole in the middle of the Handi-Bob allows me to put the spool/bobbin unit on a dowel or thread holder as one unit. Another advantage is that the Handi-Bob keeps the little bit of paper with the thread size and color on it on the spool of thread. In the past I've had problems with that little disc of paper falling off. When I wanted to purchase another spool in the exact same color and size or type of thread, it was rather difficult to figure out exactly what I had. Now I just remove the Handi-Bob and read the color and/or number and type of thread, making it very easy to get another spool that exactly matches what I have.

I highly recommend the Handi-Bob to all sewists and quilters.

Maybe other people have better luck than I do, but I could not find these at a single local sewing store. I started-up sewing again for costumes and my collection of thread and separate bobbins was getting to be a jumble.

I remembered my mom using these when I was a kid, but had no idea what they were called all these years later and thought maybe they had gone off the market in the intervening 20-odd years.

I have to say, these are a must have if you have more than a couple spools/colors. They fit most standard spools. I had one odd tapered spool of heavy-duty thread that they didn't fit (hole too large), but a single wrap of electrical tape around the post of the Handi-Bob made it thick enough to use in that spool too.

Highly recommended.

This is a product that has helped me organize my thread and bobbins together and saves me time and frustration. I no longer have to look for the matching bobbin thread and wonder if it really is the same color or not. Before I kept my thread in one place and the bobbins in the traditional bobbin box and never the two were together. A group of women get together every week at someone's house and work on projects and I never arrived with thread and bobbins to match. This has simplified my life and makes me a happy seamstress.

This is handy when the bobbin top fits into the spool of thread it will work great. But if you have any type of large spool or not a standard spool of thread it isn't very good. It is too loose and it falls out. Which is a bummer since I have many spools of thread for embroidery and it doesn't fit in the spools so I'm trying to figure out a way to get it to work so I don't feel I wasted my $$.

Found these and LOVE them!! I ordered a second package. They don't work on the big spools of embroidery thread (the ones that have a smallish looking top and a bigger bottom that flares out) but they work on regular thread (Dual Duty for example) and even the embroidery thread (Sulky) but only one one end of the Sulky. Someone posted they don't fit Sulky but that is incorrect.
