When I first heard the ProGlide was coming out, I was a bit skeptical on how it could be that much better than the regular Fusion. As is turned out, the ProGlide is better and noticeably so. There is definitely much less resistance when sliding this across my face. It also seems like I'm been getting a closer shave. The best part of the ProGlide is that your can use your old Fusion handles to attach the blades onto. No need to buy special ProGlide handles. The only bad part that I have noticed so far is that the ProGlide seems to wear down much faster than the old Fusion. I have to replace the ProGlide blades about a week earlier than I used to with the old Fusion.

Costly blades, but you can beat this cost. After each save, rinse the blade, towel dry it. Then take a hair dryer (blower) and dry it again. I picked this tip on the internet and it works. Rust is the killer of blades and drying it this way prevents rust. One blade performed as new after many, many shaves...and still going.

I travel quite a bit and keep the old Gilette Sensor Excel in my travel case, as well as the Fusion system at home. My beard is thick, black hair; a true test for any of these razor systems. Fusion has worked the best for me so far after having tried quite a few different blades. I was happy with it but when I went to go pick up blades last time, I thought I would give this one a try. While this is a good blade and a very smooth system, I don't really notice much (if any) of an improvement over the Fusion system. The blades are even more expensive than Fusion so I'm going to have to to pass. Because shaving is such a personal thing, I"m sure everyone will have their own opinion on these blades but for me, this was more cost with no additional value over the Fusion.

Bought a pack of 8 blades before Christmas as a gift, and just found out from the recipient that the blades do not have the same sharpness or glide that the ones bought at retail have. Wouldn't have thought there would be this issue when it's a straight Amazon purchase. These blades are not inexpensive, but they certainly are cheap. Would not buy here again. Not a happy customer!

Val,

I am sorry that the blades you purchased do not seem to be as sharp as you have come to expect from Gillette. As you know from being a loyal user you should have a close and smooth shave with each new blade. We would like to get more information about the condition of the blades. When you have a spare moment, could you please give us a call at 1-800-445-5388, so my Consumer Relations Team can assist you further? Please let the agent know that you had sent us a review on Amazon.

We look forward to speaking to you and getting you back on track to a perfect shave!

~Patrick

I do not know if that makes this counterfeit as I cannot feel a difference yet. I have used Proglide exclusively for years and I do recognize variance in store bought razors, some being better than others. Starter kits always seem to include sharper razors. Perhaps this is manufactured for a different region. Just be aware.

I was just like every other woman out there always using ladies razors with all the fancy colors, lotions, gels, handles what have you. Then one day I read an article somewhere saying how men's razors can work better for you b/c they are designed to shave coarser hairs (like those on a man's face). I decided to give it a try and asked my boyfriend at the time what razor he used and he gave me an extra one to use. I have never turned back since! The Gillette Fusion ProGlide especially works wonders on my legs, underarms, bikini area. I get such a close and smooth shave with barely any razor burn or bumps ever. It just kills me how expensive the actual razor blades can be so naturally I looked here on Amazon and this was a decent price for 8 blades. I'm telling you ladies give it a try, you won't be disappointed and will be throwing that Venus razor out!

I've been shaving for over fifty-five years, and I've tried almost every new blade that has come out in that time. I've followed Gillette since their days of the double-edged straight blade through their rolled, coiled blade into their multiple-blade era. If one blade is good, two are better; if two are good, three are better. Now we've got the Gillette ProGlide with five blades, meant to fasten to their swivel-headed razor. The result is the best, smoothest shave I've ever had, and the shave less likely to leave nicks or cuts.

The "however" is the cost. These things are the most-expensive blades Gillette (or probably anyone else) has ever made. Even Amazon's price is about $3.75 a blade. Now, I've heard from people who say they can use one of these blades for up to two or three months or more, but I've never been able to get more than a week's worth of use from any one of them. Maybe the people who get them to last longer have really fine beards; me, I have whiskers like a steel brush.

My dream of being a multimillionaire is being to shave with a fresh blade every morning. But I'm not a multimillionaire, so I make do. And making do with Gillette's ProGlide razors and blades is still plenty good. (I especially like the little straight blade they fasten to the back of the regular five-blade arrangement. You can use this single blade to get into the tight spots that the five-blade arrangement can't get to or can't manage well. It's very convenient.)

First, the one I received required the Jaws of Life to open the package. Are razor blades so valuable that they have to make it impossible to access the product once purchased?

Secondly, in the last package I bought here on Amazon, 4 of 8 were bad blades from the get-go. They were dull, caused rash and even a bit dangerous if you ask me. These are far too expensive for that. When they're good, they're fine. But when you end up hurting yourself and can only use 4 of 8, well, now the price has doubled. Are these people selling seconds on Amazon????

Hi SusanInSFL,

I'm so sorry to hear you had such a hard time getting into the packaging. While we certainly want our blades to be child-proof, we wouldn't expect you to have to fight to get inside. How frustrating!

It sounds like that's not where the trouble ended, unfortunately. I can assure you that we never sell seconds or surplus products. Authenticity is of major importance and while Amazon does not support the sale of counterfeit products, please use caution when using unknown 3rd party vendors.

You safety and comfort is very important to us. Please give us a call at 1-800-GILLETTE (800-445-5388). We're here Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. EST. We would really like to get some additional info from you and try to make this up to you at the same time. Be sure to let the agent know that I sent you from here and why. Thanks! ~Rose
