I dare anyone who likes funk music not to get your boogie on! These bombastic classics from the mid to late seventies are loaded with songs that would turn the party out! The Bar-Kays are always overlooked (In my opinion) on the numerous "greatest lists", be it artists, albums or songs. They only carved out their own signature sound and managed to produce some of the most memorable dance records of all time! These albums put them on the map and propelled them through two decades of superlative live performances and song creativity. "Shake Your Rump to the Funk" is a tightly played gem that will remain one of my top favorites for all time! "Cozy" and "You're So Sexy" are slow burners far removed from today's overproduced ballads. "Spellbound" is a mid-tempo thumper worthy of repeated play! The title cut says it all: "Too Hot To Stop"!!! As one of the originators of 'Black Funk Rock' (Along with the Isley Brothers and a few others) the Bar-Kays were smouldering and original! Their eventual growth from that album culminated into what I feel is their best album: "Flying High On Your Love"! To this day, when I play this album, I let it run from start to finish! "Let's Have Some Fun" ruled the dancefloors and house parties! The lyrics were more complex on this particular album. Check out "Woman Of The Night" and "Attitudes". They are certainly different from the typical 'dance and romance' songs of the day. "You Can't Run Away" is yet another irresistable groove. If you appreciate music from this era, it is a real treat to have both of these albums on one CD!!!

Growing up in the mid to late 70's the Barkays Flying High Album was my all time favorite. To this date, I have yet to hear a better album. After searching for more than 25 years I finally was able to find it on CD at Amazon. You guys are the best.

One of the Baddest double albums on one disc, with remastered full length songs. buy it you won't be disappointed. this is the Bar-Kays in their prime, truly another great funk band from the 70's -80's era.

I am so glad that these two classic albums are on one CD. However, this version of "Let's Have Some Fun" is an alternate version but hot diggety dog it's hot! HOT HOT HOT.
