Measure Carefully!

I received the grate and while I'm happy with the quality, sadly without having a listed back measurement, I find this doesn't fit my fireplace. I shouldn't have ordered it without that measurement. I suppose that real masonry fireplaces are more even back to front, but my set-in box has a much narrower back than front. FYI the back legs on the grate reach 26 1/2" wide. The vendor is willing to refund the cost of the grate, but I'd be paying for return shipping as well as the original shipping, which takes me almost to the cost of the item, so I may take it to a wrought iron guy to see if he can cut and re-weld the legs on to fit.

I go through an iron fireplace grate every two years. They bend and warp from the heat, and eventually sag and become worthless.

This one was a bit more money than i usually spend, but it's a thicker metal bar, and has held up very well. My only complaint, is its a bit taller, so I've had to change my kindling strategy a bit.

Highly recommended.
