Easy to use

This pink goop is great for when you move out of an apartment. The movers I used were less than careful and punched a hole in a wall with the leg of a table. Instead of loosing a portion of my security deposit I bought this kit and fixed it myself. At first I had my doubts if the pink stuff would really dry white but it did in about a day. I highly recommend this to clumsy people, like myself. It's also probably good for people with steroid abuse problems who like to punch holes in walls.

Awesome deal

This patch kit turned out to be cheaper than the Spackle alone. A great deal to have it all in one kit. The pink goo is awesome when patching big holes as it allows you to see what you are doing. Being able to tell when this is dry ensures proper layering, which will help you avoid cracking etc, when working with larger holes that need a lot of filler.

Easy to use.

I bought this kit because I had two different repairs that required spackling: the door knob made a hole that was about 2" in diameter, plus the texture on one wall that I'm repainting came off along the edge, so I wanted to even it out.

I was thinking about DryDex spackling; it's really kind of like getting a car with power locks and windows. You can get a car without power locks and windows, and it will still work. Same thing with other kinds of spackling--you don't actually NEED to have pink to white spackling to patch a wall...but the convenience far outweighs the minimal cost for upgrade. Just like nobody really wants to have to remind all of their passengers to please lock the door, especially as an amateur, there's no reason to buy another type of spackling to save a few cents. It's just so convenient to be able to quickly know whether spackling is dry.

I thought this kit was great--it had exactly the things that I needed to patch the wall. I know I have a putty knife (or several) somewhere in my garage, and this saved me time hunting.

Whenever I use a patch on a wall, I always feel uncomfortable with the appearance of the wet spackling--usually there is kind of a screen grid from the patch, plus I can never get the spackling totally smoothed out. It makes me feel like I'm doing something wrong. But, once it's dry, you just sand a little and the grid pattern smooths out, and the uneven strokes in the spackling erase, and you just end up with a smooth surface.

I am totally happy with this kit, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who needs to patch a hole in their wall. It's nice, too, because the amount of product included is totally adequate for any job of this sort; so, you could purchase this to fix the hole in your wall, and then go around and patch any little holes you have, too, and you would probably still not run out of spackling.

Wouldn't use the mesh

I would NOT use the mesh part. I followed the instructions to the "T" and the mesh caused the area to appear raised. After sanding the area down the squares of the mesh even showed through! I ended up removing the mesh and just using the spackling paste ( it had already gone through the mesh and filled the actual hole anyway). I just smoothed it over, tapering the edges, and it worked beautifully. Love this product minus the mesh. The pink dryness indicator and quality of the spakling paste itself is excellent!

Works perfectly!

This had semi bad reviews because parts were missing in some peoples packages but I had a great experience with this. Every part was there, it made repairing a hole so easy (door swung open too hard and put a hole in the wall) It comes with everything you need, it is purple but dries an off white color. That was a great feature of this product because I knew when it was fully dry! It also comes with sandpaper to smooth it over. I definitely recommend this for anyone! It's simple, so if you have never repaired a hole you won't have a problem doing so with this kit.

Fixed my hole in the wall

I had a 3 inch size hole in my wall I wanted to get fixed and got this Dap 12345 drydex spackle wall patch kit here to take care of that hole in my wall. Pretty easy to use and I was able to cut the steel mesh backing before placing it on the wall. After putting 2 layers of spackle over the steel mesh [allowing each layer of spackle to dry before putting the second layer on the area], I was able to sand it down so I can paint over it to match the rest of the wall. Very easy to use and worth the price I got it here. 5 stars for this product since simply I could not find anything wrong with it.

Works great, even for the un-handy!

I feel so handy after buying this! I have literally no home repair skills (I can assemble IKEA furniture and that's about it), and put a bunch of holes in my drywall trying to put up curtains. I followed the instructions here, and it looks good as new! You couldn't tell where the holes were, and it was super easy to do. The holes I patched were pretty small (~1 cm?), but it looks like you could use for larger holes as well.

Pink helps with application
