I really like these; they give a lovely ambient light and seem to be handy for repelling skeeters. My big question is once the candles burn out, are there refills? I cannot even find this product on the Coleman site. I would hate to think that at this price they are considered disposable. The lack of clarity on this point brought my review down to 3 stars. I f find refills, I might bump it up a star or two.

Wow, lots of goods-and-bads on this product. Rumor has it, there are refills for it. Bad news, I haven't actually seen them or been able to get ahold of them. You can of course, mold or form your own 'replacement' candle to fit it - but in the end, is it really worth it?

As for repelling mosquitoes, well - it kinda does. If you are dealing with the little guys that you see in some backyards, maybe in Europe, hey, seems to work. If you think that this toy is going to repel those gigantic Philippine Tiger Stripe monsters, FORGET IT. They will land on this thing, while it is lit, freebase the fumes, and go on a snarfing munchie spree looking for the nearest vein to pop - ON YOU.

This apparently does not work on the Tiger Stripes, and another reviewer has already mentioned that too. The only thing I have found that can keep them off you is actual DEET sprays or heavy lemongrass scent integrated into a citronella smoker. This citronella candle? Forget it, I can't tell if they just don't care, or if the Tiger Stripe mosquitoes are lured to it. We have a marsh nearby our home, and after taking this out to it (while in my best head bugnet, and long-sleeve shirt and pants), tried this and a dozen other candles and wick burners. The wick burners were the only 'light it and forget it' that could even begin to get the Tiger Stripes away, and any personal spray with 50-percent or more DEET in it.

Overall, I rate this 3-stars. It DOES work on little black flies, no-see-ums and regular mosquitoes. This of course, doesn't help if your bug-mix also includes the new adder to America, the Philippine Tiger Stripe mosquito. They are going to have to reformulate to repel these behemoths.

. . .are not deterred by this candle at all. In fact, within a minute of lighting this, the Asian Tigers were swarming around it as if they were Great White sharks going after chum. I guess this is species specific. The Off Power Pad Lantern in conjunction with Repel Lemon/Eucalyptus spray works best for us here in the northeast of the US.

These are so easy to use. I decided to make my own citronella torches. These are perfect for our setting and work like a dream. The little adjuster on the side makes it perfect to use. No more touching hot metal and shooting wicks to extend the length of the wick. Do recommend the hurricane glass though. Ordering them now.

This nice looking citronella lantern is lightweight and functional. I used it toward the end of summer, spending most nights outside and the mosquitoes were kept at bay. I had one for each patio table since I don't expect the range to be more than that.

I own one before so I knew what I was expecting from this wonderful product for my backyard and outdoors. I believe this latest product is stronger than my old one but candle ring is smaller. Like my old one' it state 40hours burn time; but I believe this only applied if the product candle is lit from start to end as my old one lasted 4years with around 4hours burn each time during summer months.
It's no wonder why I love my Coleman products.

Those in latest order arrived today. They are replacements for prior lanterns. I honestly think the last one lasted way beyond 50 hours. I just wish there was a way to get refills for the lanterns instead of buying the entire set up each time. It seems wasteful to me to only be able to use the lantern itself once. They are too well made to use once and toss. That is my only complaint about this product.

So far so good! We have only used this a few times but it has been great each time. It provides a decent amount of light and seems to do a good job of keeping some of the mosquitos away. I wouldn't expect this to keep all the bugs away but it did seem to help. For the price it can't be beat.
