I bought this kelp because I had read that it was a great source of many nutrients, and powdered seemed to be the most economical way to go. The taste is a little fishy, which is to be expected, but it isn't objectionable, to me any way. I find that I can add it to certain foods and barely notice it. I've tried just eating it as it is, but it clumps up in the mouth and is hard to break up or dissolve and swallow. It seems best to sprinkle it on some hot food item, as if were salt or a seasoning. It doesn't seem to dissolve in hot liquids very well, it just sits there in a lump. Maybe (I haven't tried this yet)it would work better if you put some in the bottom of a cup, added a little of the broth or soup, stirred it up (like you would chocolate powder, or flour) and then added the rest of the fluid. I got two resealable bags of this kelp, and they are very sturdy, light-resistant bags, which I think is important. You're supposed to store it in a cool dark place. The zip-lock was defective on the first bag I opened, but I just folded the lip over and clamped it shut and that seems fine. The distributor probably can't have known the zip-lock was defective and it doesn't affect the kelp itself. Anyway, I'm very happy with the product, happy to know I have a ready and bioavailable source of magnesium and potassium among other hard-to-get nutrients. It will last me a long time.

Everyone in the household gets some of this in their food. No tartar or bad breath in man or beast. Finely ground seaweed meets several nutritional needs and has been found to be clinically effective in fighting biofilm in the mouth. Organic iodine and other trace minerals, makes this seaweed a health enhancing nutritional supplement.

Update: I really am impressed with the ability of this seaweed to suppress bad bacteria in the mouth that causes odor. It is amazing to wake in the morning with no morning breath! A pound of this powder goes a long way. An excellent product at an amazing price. Highly recommended.

This is a very potent kelp, which is what I purchased it for. I have trouble getting enough Iodine in my diet and I get sick when I don't, hence the kelp. I also tend to retain water and this helps with that as well.

Pros: It is a huge quantity, you really get the best bang for your buck with two huge bags that will last me a year to two years most likely.
It's pure and it comes from a source that's not quite so polluted as good old US of A waters can be.
It works extremely well, meaning I felt better the moment I started to take it and the water weight started to shed nearly immediately.

Now on to the cons.

Cons: The taste and the smell is very, very strong. So strong in fact I couldn't just drink this in tomato juice like I normally do with kelp.
It's very finely ground, being a powder just like it says, but it's so buoyant it won't mix no matter how hard you stir or even in a blender. To that end it's useless in salads or liquids for the most part.

I was able to solve the cons dilemma though by purchasing those empty gel capsules and take it that way. It does the trick and let's me get all of the pros without having to taste the stuff.

This is a good product. We were buying a product for our dog's teeth which had as the main ingredient this same type of kelp and it was fairly expensive. Since we were getting some results with it we decided to buy kelp in bulk and use it. The only mistake I made was I bought this in powder form instead of granules. Granules would have been better because for some reason the dogs prefer granules to the powder and I think it mixes better in things too. The idea is, it just has to get in their mouth, mix with their saliva and it will help break down the tartar and other debris that adheres to their teeth. Anybody that owns a dog knows a dog's teeth being kept clean is a real help in the battle to keep them healthy. Our dogs don't eat this out of my hand, so I put it in their morning plain Kefir (homemade) and they lick it out of a little bowl. They love homemade plain Kefir and it has very good probiotics for their digestive system so it's a win-win situation for them. I can't say we have the best fortune at keeping their teeth really clean because the tooth routine needs real consistency and the humans aren't always consistent...but we try.

I recently took a cruise an learn out how good Kelp is for you metabolism and so far I purchase this product twice and seen unbelievable results from it. I place kelp in my smoothies combine with other things and especially I found Frozen Yogurt. I have lost 35 pounds and found when I do eat normally I can quickly get back to my ideal weight.

If I had one complaint and it minor one is the packaging - can be too messy - but more expensive packaging would probably increase cost.

If curious about what I found out on cruise - it was a $300 detox program and I research it and found out kelp was the key ingredient
