This is a decent kit, it will be handy. the needles, thimble, and individual items are of decent quality. I would like to see a bit more thread, maybe another size needle or two, but I knew the contents before purchasing.

My problem with the kit is the plastic container. Its a very thin plastic that is easily compressed, even smashed. In a larger kit heavier items could potentially break the container or at least cause it to come open. the top screws onto the base but the plastic is so thin its hard to do at times and is poorly secured. I will end up putting the contents in an old Altoids can and be done with it. Disappointing because I had a specific place for it in one of my MOLLE pouches but the plastic is just not up to par.

Otherwise its a decent kit. You could make one for much less and with the poorly designed container this may not be worth the money.

came with 4 needles, size large (canvas) and size normal.
also a good size spool of thick black thread
some pins and safety pins
a thimple
a seamripper
and some buttons
not a bad kit. if you are like me and don't want to take the effort to assemble such a kit yourself, go for it.
if you do want to assemble your own kit, it will probably cost a little less, but not a lot less.

This has came in very handy for sewing up rugged outdoor gear and apparel. The needles come in multiple easy to use sizes and the included thread is extremely strong nylon that doesn't give. I am extremely satisfied.

Overall a great kit in a small container at a fair price

- This kit came with larger, more heavy duty pins and needles. Not the ones you would use to sew your button on your office shirt, but heavy duty, sewing backpack and sleeping bag closed stuff.
- The thread is light duty thread. So, you might want to add in a bit of heavier replacement thread.
- I added a few extra bits of thread and smaller needles for any fine work that might be needed.
- The kit has a little bit of extra space for anything you might want to add, however not a bunch of extra room.
- Another person complained about the plastic tube. This is one of their standard tube and seems strong enough for most folks, however if you think it could be crushed due to your packs contents, then This box can fit into a more heavy duty container... though in that case, just dump the contents into a ziplock and pack it all into a stronger box. It is thinish, but all in all I think it is strong enough for most people.
- They do have a bright green/yellow kit (same stuff) in their 'Tactical' line of products. I can't say much about the green tube, however I think this orange container is easy to find.
- Price-wise, I think this kit comes with items which would cost about the same price if purchased separately.

The content inside the case is fine. Although the seam ripper "seams" a bit flimsy (cheap).
The casing is a different story! I have actually never seen a more delicate, thin, and cheap casing than this in my life. I haven't broken it (yet), and maybe it's designed to be squishy flexible plastic? but man! I feel like it's going to break just by looking at it funny.

I gave it 4 stars, because it hasn't actually broken... so I wanted to be fair.

A sewing kit is an easy thing to put together yourself if you have access to the items needed. The problem is you can't go to a sewing or craft store and buy just two safety pins, or only four sewing needles, etc. For this reason it's worth it to pay a few dollars and have someone make the kit for you. The problem is, as they say, if you want something done right you have to do it yourself.

The container is the thinnest plastic possible. A prescription pill bottle would be a 100% improvement over this flimsy container. That might be the reason that the cover for the seam ripper contained within was cracked. If the container can't even protect the contents in a well-padded mailing box, how will it hold up in your backpack?

Luckily a thimble is something that can be purchased separately, and I will be replacing the one included. The description on the Amazon listing says that the contents are "hard-to-find industry-standard sewing materials." So very much not true. The thimble feels like it's made of aluminum, which is hardly the "industry standard." You can pick up a steel thimble from a sewing or craft store made by a major sewing supply manufacturer for a couple of dollars.

The contents listed on the back of the package include four sewing needles, two each of two different sizes. Mine contained only two sewing needles and they were each the same size. I was planning on supplementing the contents with more items, but the kit didn't even contain all of the items that is was supposed to.

I am not giving a one-star review because the product could have been worse. Not much, though.

I thought this would be one of those things you bring as an "emergency item" that just takes up space and weight in the pack. But actually, it saved me a few times on the trail for various reasons. I added a tiny bottle of super glue to the kit and that may this little setup now indispensable for my travels in the backcountry.
The container is nice an light and easy to get in and out of, and the included needles are super duty for getting through thick pack materials. I would recommend for sure.
