I have ADHD and have trouble losing my place in books with lots of text. These are nice to stay focused on the few lines of text around what you're reading. They're hard plastic and should hold up for a long time.
The problem is that these are made for people with learning and focus difficulties. After a few minutes the only thing I can see is the logo imprinted into both edges. Why would you put something on there to distract people who are buying the product because highly distractable?
They're also smaller than I thought and don't quite cover the width of text in larger textbooks.
I use my thin, flexible reading strips from another company much more often. These are getting donated to the school in my neighborhood.

First, I would like to say this is not a toy, but a great aid to help readers track print and accurately and fluently read text. I use these in my classroom and my at risk students have increased their reading fluency by 20 wpm. They choose the color line to use, which gives them more interest in reading. They all prefer to line the 'ruler' under the line of text they are reading. As they read they move the 'ruler' down a line and continue reading. No skipped lines, no struggling on where to start the next line, no picking up word parts from other lines and replacing the existing word part with the one they erroneously picked up. I have one set and am ordering another set. They also seem very durable and are of solid construction.

My daughter is testing whether she is dyslexic and we got these as a way to see if these would aid her. What a difference these over lays do. The nice thing is with the different colors you can try each one out and see which one works best. For example the blue is worthless to her, yet the green helps a lot. These fit in her back pack and she is once again interested in reading. We will be getting her full sheets of over lay, but I like how these are more portable than the whole sheet ones,

I like the colors. I don't like that they have a line across them that is a bit confusing for my students to decide where to position text. So far, none of my students has chosen to use the guides, although I made them available.

This is listed as a "toy", but I wouldn't classify it as that. This is simply a device to help you follow the lines when you are reading a book. These are a hard plastic material (much like a ruler) but without the numbers and lines. Would prefer they be flexible so they bend with the spine in the book, but overall the product is what I was looking for and is good quality.

Good in theory, but horrible design. They are quite small, only covering about two lines of text at a time. When the goal is to increase fluency and create a smooth reading cadence, only being able to move two lines at a time seems to actually slow the reading process, decrease fluency, and hinders the goal of developing a smooth cadence.

They are not exactly "clear". They have a raised middle, with a beveled upper and lower edge. Across the lower beveled edge is etched writing/advertising (says LEARNING LOFT, EYE-LIGHTER, [...] This beveled edge distorts the text, defeating the purpose of providing an easier reading experience.

I plan to purchase full sheet color overlays that can be sized to fit a standard children's paperback; and ones that are truly "clear" overlays.

Two of my granddaughters have dyslexia and need these strips to help with reading. Their Mama and I searched everywhere, online and in-store for these and were amazed at the great price at Amazon. Since I live in Texas and she lives in Virginia we were able to really do some in-store shopping at a lot of different stores. We feel very confident we got the best price. With these aids and my daughter throughly studying what aids might help the girls, I'm proud to say they are both Honor Roll straight A students. And all their teachers are happy to have them utilize any aids that will help them learn. So if you have or know someone who is dyslexic don't despair. There are many aids out there and when you find the right one Amazon will probably have it at the best price. In fact for one of the girls, hearing text at the same time she is reading it has been one of the best aids for her. And guess which aid she uses. She uses her Kindle Fire. Just have to love Amazon.
