Product Description

The Insulator Performx Tight offers excellent muscle support with our Patented Support Web system. Muscle support is foccused on quad, calf and IT bands while ligaments and tendons of the knee joint are also supported. "WarmStretch" temperature-regulating fabirc helps to keep you comfortable in Fall/Winter conditions.

Made by CW-X, these women's running tights provide optimum balance as well as support for the iliotibial band, hip flexors, and quadriceps. They also help stabilize the knees, calves, and Achilles tendons. CW-X's patented Kinesio Support Web acts as a suspension system for the quadriceps, increasing power at the push phase of the running motion. The gentle, targeted compression of the Kinesio Support Web increases circulation, minimizing lactic acid buildup and reducing muscle soreness, making these ideal recovery-wear.

The tights are anatomically engineered for each gender, providing comfort, ease of movement, and a better fit. They offer versatile performance, both as outerwear and as a base layer. A reflective logo provide extra visibility for nighttime activities. The flat-seam construction eliminates abrasions, increases comfort, and enhances fit. Other features include a key pocket and a double-reinforced waistband with a flat-draw cord.

Fabrics
The 80 percent Coolmax, 20 percent Lycra four-way stretch fabric pulls moisture away from the body to the outside of the tights and provides a UV protection rating of UPF 40+.

About Kinesio Support Web Technology
The patented CW-X Kinesio Support Web technology mimics Kinesio taping techniques that trainers apply to injured muscles. When this technology is applied to muscles and joints, it creates an exoskeletal support system that improves biomechanics during motion. The Kinesio Support Web provides targeted support to key areas, decreasing muscle oscillation and focusing power so your muscles work more efficiently. Variable compression along the web facilitates circulation, minimizing lactic acid build-up and muscle soreness, so you can be active longer and recover faster.

About Lycra and Coolmax
The genius at the heart of CW-X is an obedience to the structure of the body, made possible by two extraordinary fibers: Lycra and Coolmax. Coolmax moves moisture instantaneously from the body out to the fabric's outer surface, where it evaporates at twice the speed of cotton. So with CW-X Conditioning Wear, you remain cool at even the highest temperatures. When less energy goes toward cooling the body, more energy is left to help you excel. Lycra, on the other hand, possesses the unique ability to stretch yet retain its shape.

About CW-X Gear Technology
For 40 years, scientists at Wacoal Human Science Research Center in Kyoto, Japan, have studied kinesiology, the science of human movement. They have tested over 35,000 people and analyzed injuries relative to warm-up and cool-down periods. They have come to understand the mechanics of joints and muscles in minute detail. This exhaustive study of body movement has culminated in over 50 patents worldwide.

Below are some further studies demonstrating the performance-enhancing qualities of CW-X Conditioning Wear.

Human Science Research Center, Kyoto, Japan: Study of electrical pulse activity in muscles
Muscles firing into motion were measured electromyographically for subjects wearing CW-X gear, subjects wearing competitor products, and subjects with bare legs. Electrical pulse activity decreased in unsupported and partly supported legs during exercise, indicative of fatigue. Legs supported by CW-X showed a negligible decrease in electrical pulse activity.

Human Science Research Center, Kyoto, Japan: Study of stability, impact, and motion
In this study, high-speed video analysis was used to compare stability, impact, and motion in CW-X products and regular compression gear. CW-X Support Web tights were 10 percent more stable and balanced and absorbed 12 percent more shock to the knee than regular compression tights. CW-X Support Web tops allowed 9 percent greater range of motion for the arm than regular compression tops.

University of Montpelier, France: Study of VO2 oxygen uptake levels
This study measured VO2 oxygen uptake levels over the course of 15 minutes of running in CW-X gear, regular compression tights, and running shorts. CW-X Support Web tights showed 26 percent less oxygen use than regular compression tights and 36 percent less oxygen use than traditional running shorts, indicating lower energy expenditure.

I bought these pair of pants for hiking Half Dome. It was warm when we went June 2010, so I ended up wearing these pants for recovery. I was not sure if it did help me but it felt good sleeping with them the next two nights, and felt the rush of blood when I removed the pants.

So training for a half marathon came, after hiking Half Dome. Oh boy! I felt the difference between running on my "regular" running pants versus running on these. I felt that there was less movement (I really call it a jiggle) on my tighs and hence, I felt like I used less energy while I was running for 2 hours straight.

I did a half marathon without using these and for the 2:17 minutes I was running, I felt the jiggle, then the calf cramps came. Ouch. Almost crawled my way to the finish line. 3 weeks later, I did another half marathon with these pants. I was more hydrated, was less concious about the jiggle and felt less sore after. However, I did feel the cramps after. Regardless, I think it helped a lot with my training and actual running. Highly recommended! I would not dare to run another half without wearing these pants.

I even wear this now for CrossFit. I am still trying to find out if it really helps but it feels good wearing these while we're doing all the crazy squats and sprints.

This is my second pair of CW-X tights. If you like compression style tights these are some of the best available. They're pricey but worth it. I wear these anytime it's 45 deg F or below out (even when it's down around 10 deg F!) and never feel too cold. Good support for my snarky IT band too!

Yep, these babies sure are warm. I was a bit skeptical that compression tights could also be thermal enough from ones I've seen here in NZ. So, deciding to risk it having never seen these before, I ordered. I used the size chart and it is very acurate. Sometimes, they say you're a M when you should have gone bigger. Not these. Size M is bang on. They are really supportive - my legs feel nicely held without being restricted. Has helped my knee probs from tight ITB. We get frosty mornings of about -4deg C and these are great. No wind chill seems to get through them, either. Matt black colour, not too 'out there' for us recreational running girls! I would definitely buy these again but not for a while - these tights will last for ages, given the quality!

I already owned a pair of CW-X ventilator 3/4 length pants that I love. Living in New England and preparing for a southern marathon in February though, I needed something a little warmer.

After much research, I ordered the Insulator Performx Tights. I chose the Insulator for obvious reasons and the Performx because they target one of my problem areas: IT bands. If you visit the CW-X website before you order on Amazon, they have a tool that helps you choose which CW-X pant is best for you.

I wore them on a 40 degree day for a 13 mile run and they were too warm. I didn't overheat...but I definitely didn't need the insulation that day! I've worn them for several runs in the 3-10 mile range in the upper 20s to upper 30s and was very comfortable. I may have to update this review when we get deeper into winter and see how they perform in the single digits!

Size: My 3/4 length Ventilators were a small so that's what I went with on the Insulators. I'm 5'7, 120 lbs, with long legs. The Insulators wind up being just a little short on the ankle. Not a huge deal, but I had to purchase different socks as I hate having a gap between my pants and my socks. I'm not sure though that a medium would work, as they may not have the compression level necessary.

Make no mistake, these are not your regular spandex pants. These are compression tights, and they are tight! They come out of the package looking like Pee-Wee football pants. Read the instructions on how to put them on. And follow the washing instructions (no dryer, and do not dry them in the sun!)

By the way, haven't been having any IT band issues since I got these pants.

these are absolutely excellent. thicker, sturdier material than your typical running tight, they stabilize the knee when you run but still are flexible and allow you the freedom of a regular tight. only thing, they are difficult to get on the first time. i was silly and didn't read the directions and just tried to pull them on like regular tights. worked eventually but was harder. you're supposed to put them on both legs up to the knee, arrange the knee into the knee part of the tight, then pull them on.

I'm a big fan of my compression socks and I have issues with ITB tendonitis, so I thought these tights would be great on my long runs. I was really excited about them.

The issue, for me: the inseam length. Even though the waist was practically tied under my boobs, the tights were too short AND the crotch wanted to creep down when I was just walking around my house. Not surprisingly, my run was spent cursing the tights and tightening the waist band in the (futile) hopes that they wouldn't fall down.

I am 5'6," bought a medium size, and have never had issues with inseam length when it comes to any other pant. I ended up giving these to a running friend who is 5'2" - and they fit her perfectly.
