Travel friendly!, July 11, 2010
This review is from: Scotch (R) Magic (TM) Tape Donut Dispenser, Assorted Colors, 0.75 x 300 Inches, 4-Rolls (155) (Office Product)
Finally, a dispenser that is compact and safe enough for packing. Scotch tape can be very useful when travelling: lint remover, small repairs to paper or clothing, covering a small cut when you don't have a bandage, quick label, etc. The donut covers the usual cutting edge, and there's a tab to open when you want some tape. The donut is also refillable with a standard sized (larger) roll of 1/2 or 3/4 inch, so you can keep on using the donut when the tape runs out.

Cute, but not practical, August 28, 2010
This review is from: Scotch (R) Magic (TM) Tape Donut Dispenser, Assorted Colors, 0.75 x 300 Inches, 4-Rolls (155) (Office Product)
I thought this would be a great classroom tape dispenser, but when you tear the tape, it doesn't retain a piece outside the donut! You have to open it up and grab the tape from the roll every time you use it. Cute idea, bad bad bad practicality.

Substandard product., June 14, 2010
This review is from: Scotch (R) Magic (TM) Tape Donut Dispenser, Assorted Colors, 0.75 x 300 Inches, 4-Rolls (155) (Office Product)
Well, what can I say, it's the first bad review I've given for a 3M product.
The rolls of tape inside these are 300 inches, which means they are much less than the standard 450 inches.
On top of that, they are not so simple to use. One has to pull out the white tab, to which the tape is stuck, then pull the tape free from the tab. After that, it's pull and tear as before.
Before you fold the white tab back in to close the dispenser, you have to make sure the tape is tucked down against the tab, or it could fold stick-side in, which is no good.
All in all, a poor design. perhaps they can redesign it so one doesn't have to mess with a tab, or ensure that the tape is tucked a certain way upon closing, but until then, I'll be sticking with the standard dispenser.
Keep in mind, the tape (apart from being shorter than normal) is just fine. It's the dispenser that's sub-par.
