I picked this up at our local Michaels store and absolutely love it. I've used it to crochet a granny style lap blanket and knitted a scarf with it. It is super soft and nice to work with. When I first looked at it I thought it was slightly bigger than worsted, but it is not, just fluffy :-)

I will buy this yarn again

My husband likes the masculine, earthy color of this yarn, and we agree, for a medium weight acrylic, it has a nice soft feel. It's knitting up nicely on size eight needles, however in one skein I encountered three instances where the yarn clearly broke and was tied back together. Considering this is only 145 yards, this is way too many. The first time I failed to notice the knot before it popped up in the stitch I was working, and had to rip out two rows so that I could restart the skein on the WS. I spotted the next two before they became an issue, but still, these are small skeins so I hate to sacrifice length to tails that I then have to take the time to sew in. The scarf I'm knitting is coming out nicely, but I don't think I'll buy Vanna's Choice again because of the yarn breakage and also because the colors vary by dye-lot (potentially causing issues if I don't purchase enough yarn all at once).

I loved working with this yarn and its indigo blue color. The saturation of blue dye in this yarn makes it a bit stiffer than lighter colored Vanna's Choice yarns but it is still amazingly soft. I used 7 skeins on my shawl project and did not experience any splitting and only encountered one knot, which I was able to easily cut out and keep working. I love how this yarn is completely machine washable/dryable. I would recommend washing your project in a bag (I use a pillow case) if your project has fringe. Otherwise, I throw mine straight into the washer and dryer. I will be buying this Denim Mist again and again to make things for my blue loving family members and friends. Each skein is 100% acrylic and 3 oz/145 yds.

I love this yarn texture and colors. I'm an experienced knitter who usually knits socks, sweaters, and gloves. I chose this yarn for a scarf because it closely matched the colors I was looking for (although this is the first time knitting with this yarn). The color choices in this yarn are lovely, and the texture of the yarn is beautiful as well...and knitting with this yarn is a joy. The scarf turned out beautifully, blocked well, and held its shape beautifully after washing. I am very pleased:)

While I believe the yarn is ok, I ordered how I did because I thought I was getting 9 skeins from one shipper (expecting the dye lots to match) instead I got SEVEN shipments, from several different locations... Hope the blanket doesn't have dye lot distinction

Vanna's Choice is one of Lion Brand's newer yarns, and its range of colors is excellent. Because it's acrylic, it isn't suitable for felting, and garments made from it will not be as warm as those made of wool or wool blends. It's also a bit more expensive than one of Lion's comparable older brands, Wool-Ease. Vanna's tends to knit up with good body, and can be washed and dried by machine, resisting shrinkage or fading.

Vanna's Choice and Vanna's Choice Baby from Lion Brand are my favorite yarns to use for all my projects. Period. They are premium acrylic yarns in worsted weight. They are the softest acrylic yarns that I have found anywhere near this price point. Most acrylic yarns I've used are scratchy and have tremendous drag when knitting or crocheting. Not this yarn. It is soft, smooth, and the hooks or needles glide right through it. I can't stand "cardboard" yarn.

I had been ordering it from the Lion Brand website because the local craft and fabric stores carry a limited variety and quantity. I had no idea Amazon carried it. Many of the colors are much cheaper on Amazon and have Prime shipping. Some are twice as much or are an add on item. Whether you get it here or elsewhere on line, be warned that the colors don't always match. Sometimes they are darker, like the Colonial Blue, sometimes it's brighter like the very vibrant aqua, and sometimes it's a different tone all together, like the Sapphire Blue which actually has a dark almost real undertone. It's a chance you take when buying from a photo anywhere on the internet. This green is a perfect match in person.

While it's easier to buy everything from the website, you can save some serious money buying on Amazon if you take your time to compare prices on the different colors. However, there is a serious trade off. You don't get all the same lot number. That's not a big deal if your using multiple colors interchangeably on a project, but it is if you are making a solid colored item.

My experience even with the same lot numbers is that there are some quality control issues.Read more ›
