I am baffled by the negative reviews, because this product is astounding! Six months ago my husband and I adopted a 1-year-old Black Lab (whom we named Waylon), perfect in every way except one: Paw pads with the texture of sandpaper! (Our previous Lab did not have this problem.) We have tried many products to soften the pads, but nothing worked (plus Waylon would just lick it all off). I purchased Nutri-Vet's Pad Guard Wax earlier this week. I had no problem putting Waylon's giant feet into the tin. (I would joke that I was fingerprinting him.) He would start to lick at it once it was on his feet, but the wax is so viscous that he gives up after a few seconds, so that was the first plus. But the really astounding result is that, in a matter of five days, Waylon's paw pads are soft! The edges of each pad still have some roughness (but that is because I had not really targeted the edges yet). I am truly amazed at how quickly and effectively this wax has improved the condition of my dog's paw pads.

I tried this to protect my setter's paws when hunting in ice and snow. For several reasons, I usually need to apply it right before we start hunting. Guess what happens to this stuff in cold weather? It gets hard as a brick, and good luck getting it out of the tin and onto the dog's paws. A trainer recommended Vaseline as cheaper, easier to work with, and equally effective, so I'll try that next.

I used this wax on my dogs that were running agility indoors on a rubber surface. This helped to keep them from sliding when making tight turns. Wish it was a little more sticky though. However, will definitely use again.

My dog will not, in any way, wear doggie boots on her feet, nor baby socks. She'd rather limp and cry trying to walk outside. So I pessimistically tried this product and it worked great! It is a wax and goes on like petroleum jelly so I wear gloves to apply but it's not gloppy like jelly and it's doesn't cause her to slip on the floor, doesn't stain the rugs either. She walked in ice/snow without any crying or limping and I swear looked at me as if saying "Thank you"

Use this for our small dog to prevent slips on our hardwood. Works great for that purpose! Also smells nice!

I think it works pretty well. We have had a weird, warm winter, so I only was able to use this product on our Kuvasz's paws on a few ski outings. In early season snow, balls would form quickly between his toes, causing problems and delays. Dunno about the therapeutic benefits for the pads, but worked into the paw hair should prevent snow accumulation.
The best way to avoid snow balls, though, is to trim the hair between the toes!

I have used paw wax products in the past. This wax didn't help my dog at all. He would stop walking and raise his paws off the sidewalk. The only good thing is, the wax hasn't dried out in the can. I would not buy again.

I bought this to help with my dogs cracked paws. I have a really hard time getting it from the tin onto his feet. Also, most of the time he ends up just licking it off. I do like the citrus smell, but I don't think I would buy it again.
