I primarily purchased this pet gear for using it as a bike basket for my dog. The cover says it holds dogs up to 16 pounds but I don't agree. My dog is only 13 pounds and the front sags so much when he is in it that it hits the front tire while I'm riding bike. We tried other means of holding it up but nothing worked; nothing would prevent the bag from hitting the front tire while he was inside.

This was an open box item I bought at a reduced cost from Amazon Warehouse Deals. Thought I would give it a try. To those who say some dogs may be too heavy and sag it to the front tire, you are correct, My dog is a Jack Russell/Dachsund and is
12.5 lbs. When goes to front of basket it hit my front tire. I , however, fixed this problem easily. I took a bungie cord, put it under the bikes stem from the front an over the top of the handlebars and then attached to each side of basket where the shoulder strap connects. This gives plenty of additional support to keep it off of thr tire. And I have a front shock fork on the front of my Specialized Crosstrail Disc. I can activate the front shock with no problems with the bungie cord in place. If I didn't need to come up with my own additional support system I would have given 5 stars. Makes me think about designing my own, wouldn't be hard. For wih a heavier dog you look at local bike shops for grocery baskets, which are more rigid and just put a small blanket in for comfort!

The bag is very well made. I like all the external pockets. It will also completely unzip and lay flat for easy cleaning.

We have two six-pound dogs and, while they both fit in the bag, it sags horribly on the bicycle. Not only does it rub on the tire, it also sags enough for the opening to point forward.

I ended up adding a few grommets and using wire rope to shore it up enough to use it. I'll post a photo of what I did.

It's really too bad... I really wanted this bag to work on my wife's bicycle "off-the-shelf". It would work just fine as a carrier, but not as a bike basket.

I have a 15 lb puppy. He absolutely loves his basket. He knows he can run along the bike, but when he gets tired go for a ride. The basket is a lot bigger than I expected. After reading reviews, I thought it would be a tight fit. My Bandit is a Shih tzu who is 4 years old. There is so much room he can lay down or sit up. I am very impressed with the basket and so glad that I ordered it. I use it with a small front rack just to make sure there is no sag.

I wanted a carrier for my bike and researched many brands. Ended up with this one and couldn't be happier. Value-to-cost is excellent and it really is multi-functional. The bracket for the handle bars installed easily. Decided that add'l support would be a good idea, and ordered a front rack that looked OK from Amazon. It didn't fit my bike. So suggest you enlist help from a local cycle shop if you're not real knowledgeable. Mine checked out the carrier and my bike model, ordered a front rack, called me in and installed it in less than 15 mins. It feels more secure, but I'm not really sure it was necessary for my sized dog, but for a heavier beast, yes, bet one is needed. I have a Norfolk terrier (12 lbs.) and she accepted the ride (along with the Doggles,) so we are mobile. Word of caution: Steering is compromised with this configuration; you're not going to be able to mountain bike, but flat, open rides are fun.

Additionally, the 3-in-1 performs well as a car carrier. It's super easy to install, but if you're wanting it as a booster seat so the dog can see out, some car seats probably won't work as well as others b/c of tilt. This works super as a booster in the back seat of my car, but in the front, not so good. A heavier dog, w/o add'l support underneath, might compromise the bottom as it isn't super strong. A pc. of gator board would probably work nicely to add support and not a lot of wght.

I haven't tried "toting" the dog around in the carrier. Seems like it would be bulky for this, but b/c it's so portable, it's a great way to take the pooch and know you have a secure place to keep it. I bought the 16" model and there's a lot of room. I would take the company at its word about wght. and size of dog. Probably could have easily put my dog in the smaller version, but am quite happy with this one.

This is only for dogs that way about 5 lbs or less. I have a small dog that weighs 7.5 lbs and the thing sags to the point where it almost rubs on the front tire. It is just not sturdy. Also, when it sags, the dog can fall out of the front since it has a low front wall. This is a horribly designed product and should be avoided.

The basket is good to carry your pet in your car. Not recommended for bike rides, the hook is made of plastic and does not hold on safely to carry your dog in the bike.

Tiny for a kitten. It wasn't advertised like the first one i bought. I didnt have time to return it as im sure it will come in handy... I highly suggest to look for measurement's before buying. Large or XLarge means nothing...
